Honestly Jarmo has had an incredibly weird summer and I think you can make the argument that outside of Gaudreau its been a pretty poor one. Obviously, Gaudreau is a massive W though
Thinking he has to get under the cap and quickly or this offer won't be here in a month from now.
This is definitely a consideration. Any day another team could be the one to jump on some of the available cap space out there and then the price gets just a little bit worse to move anyone.
I'm THAT person, who said Columbus won. They won the trade because the player was only a .3 scorer and .32 apg player. They unloaded 5 mil and got 2 draft picks back. The player should never have gotten 5 in the first place.
Just remember this the next time you are about post a negative comment on someone's AGM.
"No way is (insert your favorite teams GM) silly enough to sign (insert a player you dislike) long term at that much money!"YES, yes they are. - Gudbranson
"No way is (insert your teams GM) going to trade (insert a player you think highly of) for that low return!"YES, yes they could. - Bjorkstrand
"No way is (insert a highly respected player) ever going to sign in (insert your team's city)!"YES, Yes they could. - Gaudreau

Its like they explored all versions of an offseason
They got a W but then replaced it with an L
Not saying its good or bad but man all of this could have been avoided if they didnt sign you know who to 4mill
This must have been payback for taking Gavin Bayreuther. Now the expansion draft makes more sense. After the Flyers took Carsen Twarynski, I guess it's Provorov for a few late picks next.
And they must be planning for the cap to not jump significantly until after then.
Agreed it seems like they could have gotten more in return however for a 60 point producer; however the flat cap is pushing hard on teams at this point.
And there I was thinking Jarmo was on a roll. That return for a consistent Top 6er in Bjorkstrand is an absolute fleecing. Francis must be laughing himself sick over this one.

This statement is why it's dangerous to look at stats only and not the big picture. Leadership doesnt show up on the stat sheet, the ability to play anywhere, line-wise, scenario-wise. The fact that he scored nearly 60 points this year including all that, he was well worth it. if anything it would have been team friendly because he was doing this on mediocore rosters, imagine him playing with this roster, could have pushed for 70 points
I know Columbus is in a cap bind but were there really no other options?
Guess not, it shows how much getting some cap room is worth alot.
It looked like the kind of deal that would get shut down here in the arm-chair section.
