Columbus Loves Russia
Michkov isn’t even able to sign in the NHL until 2026 at this point, so if he is the draft pick you might as well say that you’re going for Misa in a few years too.

Who wants Peeke
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey_Mind</b></div><div>Buying out Gudbranson isn't going to happen because he's too much of a leader in the room and his presence is needed with such a young blue-line.
I like Peeke, he is solid as a 3rd pair defensive d-man, but CBJ need dmen who can score also, and aside from Werenski, Boqvist (and maybe Bean when he's healthy) is the only other scoring dmen.
With Jiricek coming in next year I think he'll be a little more balanced offensively and defensively, but I don't expect him to put up more than 25 points in his rookie year, so he's probably more likely to replace one of those three defensive guys so Boqvist can create some offense on the second pair.
Blankenburg, Peeke and Gudbranson are all defensive and should be on the third pair. Peeke has the most value of those three so I think he's gone.</div></div>
Columbus also has more offensive defenseman coming and Peeke is arguably the best defensive game we now have and he still has some offensive potential, reminder he is still only 24. Boqvist has the most value and honestly if he isn’t on the PP he’s basically useless, Bean is in the same boat but since he is a LHD Columbus probably should keep him and let him run on PP2 and Werenski on PP1.

But he’s a Finn so Jarmo wants Armia because he’s from the same country.

I’d rather move Boqvist who has been majorly sheltered since coming back from injury, offensive zone starts, PP and against the other teams 3rd or 4th line only. Gudbranson and Peeke has been playing vs the other teams top lines when they should be playing vs the 3rd or 4th line and in shutdown roles. Columbus has a bad problem where they have solid depth player playing to high up the line up.

No, and he isn’t worth it unless we fall out of the to 5 in the draft and even then he kinda handcuffs our cap space on the 11.5 contract.

Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stadel</b></div><div>Interesting, I thought boqvist had the highest upside of the rhd. Has something changed?</div></div>
No, he has upside but with Werenski getting back to healthy it’ll take Boqvist off pp1 and when Boqvist is in the line up he’s being sheltered in the d Zote and playing on the 3rd pair, so Columbus really doesn’t need another offensive d man, who may or may not get power play time.

I think the RHD Columbus moves first would be Boqvist, not Peeke. I don’t See much of a reason to move Peeke when Blankenburg looks like he will be moving to the left side.

TK Provorov Hayes gone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>Obviously if Provorov moves out, that's a huge hole on LD that Bean would help fill, but Columbus has very few NHL-ready LD and a logjam at RD. Would it make sense to trade someone like Peeke instead? Jiricek looks NHL-ready, Boqvist is resurgent since coming back from injury, and Gudbranson's contract alone makes him the 3rd-pair RD staple for the next 3 seasons. That makes Blankenburg or Peeke the odd-man out. Would a Peeke+2nd OR 3rd land Hayes instead? If so, I don't love it, but I'd take it from Columbus's perspective.
CBJ would have: Werenski/Jiricek, Bean/Boqvist, Berni?/Gudbranson, Blankenburg for next year.</div></div>
Nah, Blanks and Boqvist have been working on playing the left side with Peeke on the 2nd pair depending on the situation when the other players 3rd pair with Bayrughter.
Jiricek isn’t Top pair ready and will get torched in that spot next season, they’d be better off with a line up of;
Werenski - Peeke
Blankenburg - Jiricek
Boqvist - Gudbranson
With Berni, Christianson and Bjork ready as the 7-9 and keeping someone like Bayroughter as the extra on the roster. If any of the RHD get moved my guess is Boqvist since he is getting the most sheltered minutes of anyone on the roster and with a healthy Werenski he gets moved off PP1.

Cuelamens should not be traded! He and Jiricek are the only top 4 potential RHD Columbus has, even Peeke, Boqvist, Blankenburg and Gudbranson should really only be 3rd pair on a contender.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DH28Hockey</b></div><div>Might be worth mentioning that this trade would bring his cap hit down to roughly 4 mil. How far is Svozil from getting an NHL look?</div></div>
He probably gets a look for 9 games next season, depending on what jarmo does, since he is still in JRs this season I don’t see him getting a shot this year. But if I had to guess I’d agree with Sk101 that he’s still 2-3 years out from really being NHL ready just like Mayetchuck and Knazko on the left side.

Hayes at 7+ I might be slightly concerned about but Hayes at 5 mil for Bean a 2nd and a 3rd, I think is a trade Columbus has to explore. Columbus has always been weak down the middle so adding a top C prospect at the draft in Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Smith or Dvorsky (totally miss spelled that) and getting Hayes to take some pressure off Jenner, Sillinger and Karuly would be a win and a good offseason for Columbus. They would just need to sure up the left side of the defence a bit and find a way to protect Werenski from getting smoked every night.

Another Pettersson trade
Meh, if Columbus lands Bedard or Fantilli I’d rather keep Johnson and Jiricek. I’m just not sure I’d want to give up that many high end assets for 1 player when Columbus still has a major need on the back end.

Steps in as a Korpi replacement, ensures the tank keeps tanking, and allows Tarasov to stay in the AHL for the rest of the year. But hey, if he can get flipped for an asset, I'm down.</div></div>
The only issue would be if quick says F this and doesn’t report to Columbus, I’d really hope he wouldn’t do that but Fleury almost did that to Chicago last year.

My guess is Boston tbh, they just moved Kinkaid earlier this week, to they could use a better 3rd goalie.

Agree, unless Columbus is retaining 50% and flipping quick to someone in the East to be an emergency 3g, Quick shouldn’t be traded.
Also I feel like I remember the he came out and said he was retiring after this season?

Something stupid that Boston shouldn’t give up, Columbus has no reason to move Jenner who is their 1c right now and signed for 3 more years after this one.

Columbus isn’t getting that kind of return for Gavrikov, imo they majorly screwed up by sitting him. We’d be lucky to get a 2nd at this point.
Also I wouldn’t be moving Cuelamens anytime soon, he and Jiricek look like they will be studs on the right side of the defence.

Jackets future who is gone
Next season -
NHL level - Werenski, Gudbranson, Peeke, Jiricek, Blankenburg, Boqvist and Berni.
AHL/Minors - Cuelamens, Svozil, Mateychuck, Knazko and Christensen.
Gone/traded - Bean and Gavrikov.
If Columbus brings in another d in the offseason or decides to give Bean his final season Berni goes to the AHL. Also as mentioned above d take longer to be NHL ready, so let’s not rush them into the NHL lineup and ruin them like we did with Foudy.

I’m not saying if it was the year Martinez was traded Gavrikov wouldn’t get a single 2nd, I don’t set the market. I just know that Chiarot got a 1st last year, Savard got a 1st, a few years ago and Manson got a 2nd and an A level prospect.
Like I said I don’t set the market, I just read what insiders and reporters say. Though I also think that helps Vancouver get more for Schenn as I think he is better.

If that’s what the market is set at then that’s what it is. I also know that fans value picks a lot more than some GMs do, especially those who are trying to win a cup, some get pretty desperate to win so they sell off picks to win (looks at Florida and Tampa).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>I agree, they had to give up a bit more for getting them to take Smith. Taking out the 2nd should even things out, and align with what Columbus has said they're looking for.
I think a team would be dumb to pay it, as I don't think Gavrikov is that good, but I think that's what the cost is.</div></div>
Gavrikov is better then his stats say, he is overplayed and has had to player higher in the lineup then he should be. Gavrikov should be on the 2nd pair and player 18-20 minutes a night, not on the top pair playing 22-25 minutes a night like he has been asked to do much of the last 2 seasons with Werenski out of the lineup. He would be a great 3rd pair LHD on a contender to play PK and play the harder minutes from the top pair guys to make their games easier to play. Then again that’s not something the majority of fans think about when trading for a player is about how it might make the job for the other players easier, like for Toronto it would make Giordano’s job easier so he doesn’t have to play all penalty minutes and top 4 minutes, he can play half the penalty minutes and top 4 minutes which is 4-6 minutes a night and that can add up in the playoffs.
