I hate to disabuse you of the charmingly ingenuous fantasy that Matthew Savoie is the next Patrick Kane or that Devon Levi is the next Ryan Miller, but Los Angeles wouldn't trade you Adrian Kempe for that package even if the 2025 first were guaranteed. You wouldn't trade Tage Thompson or Dylan Cozens for that package, and they're not having the seasons or the career that Adrian Kempe has -- and he's 20% cheaper.

Rifai should be your seventh defenseman, not your sixth. You need to re-sign Simon Benoit.

I don't see anything outrageous or fantastical about that trade idea. Boston might feel pressure to relieve some cap strain, and with Lindholm and Lohrei the only NHL-qualified left-handed defensemen the Bruins currently have under contract for next season, they might want one of your surplus LhDs in an Ullmark trade. I don't know how interested they'd be in Primeau, though. But replace him with a prospect like Owen Beck and Boston might give the offer a long serious look.

I think that if you get one second and the fourth for Liljegren you'll be doing well. I don't see him bringing four draft picks even if two of them are speculative.

UFA frenzy dilemma
Teravainen and Marchessault would seem to me to be the best forward fits, but I have no idea what they would sign for. (The former looks low and the latter looks high.) Pesce is the best defensive signing and I think that you have his numbers right.

Your not understanding that a 25-year-old forward on a league-minimum contract with all of 75 NHL games under his belt scoring 1/3 of a point per game is an AHLer, not an NHLer, is more indicative of who knows what about hockey.

Pittsburgh, a team desperately in need of quality draft picks to build a currently non-existent prospect pool, is going to pay <strong>two</strong> of the three thirds they have in the next <strong>three</strong> drafts for two bottom-6 short-term veteran forwards?
I hope not.

Begun the Quacking Has
Wow! Virtually nothing about this except the 6-figure contracts is right.
That's a package for Frankie Vatrano, not Trevor Zegras.
We won't be buying out Cam Fowler, demoting Jackson LaCombe, signing Guentzel (because he'll cost a ton more), Silfverberg, Toffoli or Zaitsev, or overpaying Adam Henrique or Ilya Lyubushkin that badly.
The fact that you've intentionally created a team where the fourth-line RW counts $5 million against the cap (unlike Montreal, which has no choice with Josh Anderson and Brendan Gallagher on the roster) makes me wonder how serious you are here. It's hard to make a team that is picking third this June worse, but this would certainly do it.

offseason
The Ducks have Drew Helleson, Tristan Luneau and Noah Warren looking for learning time at RhD, so I don't see Anaheim as the place for him. And they'll probably get a veteran RhD in the off-season to bolster that side, too, so Timmins is doubly redundant.

next season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jamathon</b></div><div>where do u think Robertson and liljegren moves to?</div></div>
You need to find a team with a need for a second- or third-pairing RhD for Liljegren. With Drew Doughty, Brandt Clarke and Jordan Spence even if they lose Matt Roy in free agency, that isn't the Kings.
Robertson is a harder case because there's a prejudice against him due to his size, coupled with the unfair perception that said deficiency has led to a susceptibility to injury. Frankly, since he's at the bottom of the pay scale (cap hit), I don't see why Toronto fans feel a need to get rid of him. The Maple Leafs need guys on minimum contracts.

Los Angeles has no interest in another RhD or an undersized bottom-6 left-handed forward to play behind Byfield, Fiala, Moore and Kempe and less than no interest in SDA.

Some version of Faulk for LaCombe seems reasonable -- what do Hayes and Strome have to do with this?
Vatrano and Killorn are our two second-line wings until Cutter Gauthier is ready . . . unless we win the you-know-who sweepstakes. (Don't want to jinx us.)

Because you're trading for him to be your starting goaltender. If you don't think he's good enough, don't trade for him at all. But don't trade for him, install him as your number one, and then whine that analytics tell you that you paid too much for him.

In the offseason
I don't understand the theory of trading 2 seasons of Evander Kane, who plays in the top 6, for one season of Reilly Smith to play #3 LW when the difference is a measly $125,000 against the cap. It's true that Kane has underperformed somewhat while with the Oilers, but he has almost as many points in 56 playoff games as he has this season and he's a particular nemesis to the Kings.

Not close to getting John Gibson alone. Lundestrom is more valuable than Berggren right now, Olen Zellweger has more points in 44 AHL games than Johansson has in 104 (never mind Pavel Mintyukov or Jackson LaCombe), and we won't be trading John Gibson unless a 2024 first-round draft pick is included.

Who adds or do the teams even want this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SK101</b></div><div>I wouldn’t trade a top 5 pick for zegras at this point. Besides the jackets have Kent Johnson already so zegras would just be redundant</div></div>
An odd sentiment in light of the fact that if Kent Johnson plays in 70 games next season, he would have to record <strong>87 points</strong> to equal Zegras' production through 200 games. And that includes 14 games this season in which Zegras struggled with a groin injury eventually sufficiently serious to put him on the LTIR list for 6 weeks, 5 games at full health and then a 20th game this season in which he broke his ankle in his third shift (after two minutes' time on ice).
Another way to put it: Zegras has roughly 250% of the goals, roughly 250% of the assists, and roughly 250% of the points as Johnson in 133% more games.
Johnson is a fine prospect. Johnson will improve next season. Zegras at LW and Johnson at C would be magical. But saying that Johnson would make Zegras redundant is, to put it charitably, counter-intuitive and counter-empirical.
