Spending on F
Los Angeles doesn't need another forward with Byfield, Fiala, Kempe and Moore all under team control for at least two more seasons but desperately need one of their three RhDs.

Still smarting that Urho got away so much that you trade him for trash and then stiff him on his Qualifying Offer?
Boy, some Boston fans really carry a grudge.

More ideas for a Kane contract
I don't think that Detroit and Anaheim are good partners for a Zegras trade. We want an impact player or prospect at RW or RD. Obviously, Raymond and Seider are too much and it feels like everyone else on the Red Wing books is too little. The only possibility I could imagine would be Sandin Pellikka plus a first-round draft pick for him.

Try rights to Gabe Perreault and either your 2025 first-round draft pick or Braden Schneider.

The poster traded for two seconds and I countered with I would be surprised if they gave two fifths
Please explain?</div></div>
Liljegren has some value. I think that two seconds is probably high but I wanted to pre-empt the outraged screams of Toronto homers claiming he's as good as Bowen Byram. (One such in particular has said that he's worth two top-40 picks.) I thought your comment was criticizing me for saying that he was only worth two fifths.

Get your ocular prescription checked. It's two <strong>seconds</strong>.

Levshunov. Then if neither he nor Celebrini come in, maybe a foreign RW like Konsta Helenius or Michael Brandsegg-Nygard or perhaps a different RD like Zayne Parekh.

Would you Move down to get rid of Palat
But this isn't moving down to get rid of Palat; it's moving down and taking on two shorter-term cap dumps to get rid of Palat. I don't understand the benefit of moving from tenth overall to the mid-twenties in order to take on $1.85 million of extra cap even though admittedly it's only for one season and New Jersey gets rid of the final three seasons of Palat's contract. And this assumes that Palat would rather play in Montreal than New York.

Zegras is not coming to MTL please stop
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Andy_Dick</b></div><div>Dach isnt durable no argument there but your argument falls apart when <strong>you say ignore Zegras health issues and build, play style</strong>. You cant nitpick your arguments here. They really are the same player and Dach was picked even earlier than Zegras so <strong>that whole sunk cost thing doesnt apply either</strong>.
Regardless, MTL and Hughes likely have no interest as they are trying to be tougher to play against. Neither team will make this deal as BlazingBat specifically stated. Good luck getting what you think he's worth, I doubt you'll find another Marc Berge....errr Rob Blake. This is much like PLD at this point.</div></div>
When did any of us, let alone the OP or anyone in this thread, let alone Giggy mention Zegras' health issues or build or play style or some oblique reference to allegedly "sunk cost"?
You have to stop re-characterizing what you hear people say, especially when they don't say it.

Radko Gudas is our only NHL-qualified RhD currently under contract for next season, is a physical force, and a fans', teammates' and coaches' favorite. In contrast, we have five NHL-qualified LhDs under team control for next season, so we don't need Kevin Bahl. Moreover, we don't lack for depth RWs or draft picks, so there's nothing in that package that would interest us even if the target were someone other than Gudas. No, thanks.

Let's see. Zegras and Poulin were drafted in the same year; Zegras has 210 NHL games under his belt (he broke his ankle 3 shifts into another game) and has recorded 154 points in them. Poulin has registered 1 assist in 6 NHL games, so we can consider him a nullity. Smith has one year left on his contract and didn't work out in Pittsburgh, and you paid a third for him, and Anaheim doesn't need a middle-6 RW (especially one costing $3 million) anyway, so we can consider his trade value effectively zero. That package isn't close to getting you a #2C from any team in the league including the bad ones, like ours.
Basically, we might trade you Ryan Strome for Smith and the second, but that's about it.

I can see the argument behind valuing Barron as worth a second-round draft pick, but no one is paying a second for one season of Joel Armia, especially at his full $3.4 million cap hit and higher compensation.

What is Rossis value
The Wild have Rossi penciled in as their #2C, so I find it hard to believe that Minnesota would part with him. As you can see from your own ACGM, they don't have someone to replace him because neither Gaudreau nor Hartman is the answer and Kiss-My-Thing-Off isn't close to ready.
But if Guerin signs Lindholm or Monahan, I can see Rossi going on the market. However, by definition, that wouldn't occur until after the draft.

Have you looked at the buyout scheme for Jack Campbell? Here it is: $1.1 million, $2.3 million, $2.6 million, and then three seasons at $1.5 million.
I think that Edmonton would prefer that to giving up another first-round draft pick.

Matt Barzal is a very good player.
Brock Nelson is a very good player.
We lose almost seven years on the Gauthier-for-Barzal exchange and over nine years on the Zegras-for-Nelson exchange.
We'll stick with the two much younger players.

Any take you have that he fell out of favor is media nonsense. Listen to any interview from Cronin or Verbeek, including their closing interviews from this week</div></div>
I will never, ever understand why guys will trade for a player that they themselves define as a #1C and then say that they wouldn't trade an unsigned prospect for him, but two kids with modest NHL experience characterized as "promising" are sufficient. Ever.
They must be thrilled that they got the next Connor Bedard at 8 overall. I guess we should have taken him instead of Leo.

No, thanks, Mitch Marner is a great player but we're not believers in the "top-down" theory of roster construction. And no matter what his blithely-dismissed extension numbers would be, it would blow our entire compensation structure entirely out of whack.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>It was a joke, to lighten him up a bit, Barron isn't as bad as he seems to think he is, he is just still really young and raw.
Some have said "any of the Habs top 3 forwards" meaning Suzuki as well.
I think you should go back through your fellow Ducks fans comments, I know you have been consistently saying what you claim but Giggywithgibby thinks he is getting an Eichel or Tkachuk type of return (or better) and quite frankly Zegras isn't even remotely close to those players.</div></div>
I don't think that any of us used the phrase "any of the Habs top 3 forwards" unless it was in the context of responding and refuting the general concept of Josh Anderson.
<a href="/users/GiggyWithGibby" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@GiggyWithGibby</a> can speak for himself but before he does so, I'll say that I would be shocked if you could actually show me that he asked for an Eichel/Tkachuk type of return because he, specifically, was the Duck stalwart who came up with the "Reinbacher plus Montreal's 2025 second" formulation, which I vividly remember because I've always thought it was insufficient but have gone along with for team solidarity.
