Anthony Deangelo a signé un contrat de 1 ans d'une valeur de 1 675 000 $ avec les Hurricanes de la Caroline, le 24 juill. 2023. Le contrat comporte un cap hit de 1 675 000 $.
This is somewhere about a 800k overpay for a guy who should be making league min. This has been a move that has been coming for months, at least we didn't have to give up anything.....besides important cap space. This move is a unneeded one that now creates a logjam on the blueline, I really hope TDA isn't the guy that's replacing Pesce or really anybody on the team, and should be the permanent 7D. Bad signing.
It's only a 1-year deal, so he won't get bought out a third time.
On a side note, if a player gets bought out and then resigned, anything above the buriable amount should be forgiven as a cap hit. You still have to pay the cash, but you don't get as large of a cap hit.
TDA played his best hockey in Carolina. Not sure what the reasoning was, or how they kept him on the rails, but it was probably the only team that was going to sign him.
By default not a good contract because it's TDA. I don't care by this point. Everywhere he's gone, he's either been a disgusting human being, a locker room cancer or clashed with the coaching staff. Also Torts didn't lie(or exaggerate for once) when he said TDA can't play defense. And on top of all that, he's a bit of a powerplay merchant too.
Just too many risks and factors against him by this point imo. Even if he has learned to keep his mouth shut in the public.
Carolina get a much needed PPQB because Burns had issues, and someone that can sit next to Orlov and be babysat. He behaved himself last time, so this is an absolutely fine bet. This Blueline is now HANDS DOWN the best in hockey
As if EK goes to Pitt got a feeling teams looking will shift to Pesce. NSH is just a throw in as you know we dont know what they doing rn lul
TOR's in cap hell, and doesn't have much to trade, unless they want to move Nylander. NSH already has more RD than they need, and would likely only be interested in Pesce as an upgrade. Taking a different roster defenseman back in a Pesce trade doesn't help CAR. Maybe SEA, but they don't have any cap space.

My guess is he goes to the Jackets.
Jackets have to many RD rn no joke
Bean, Severson, Gudbranson, Boqvist thats their RD rn along with those 2 good prospects.
As for Toronto is Pesce was to come it would be in a big deal involving WN of course. As Carolina is probs gonna look to move him for forward help rn
People really dont seem to remember Toronto's got the guy who made the cap rules in upper management (Pridham) if anyone knows how to maneuver this its him. Cause remember 3 years ago they were 12mill over with Horton and Clarkson on LTIR.

Re the power play merchant. He's 7th in even strength points/60 by a defenseman in the last 4 years. He's a talented player. Wouldn't want him on my team because of the rest but on the ice he has skill
