Huh? Yzerman is so weird, dumps Walman and Fabbri (incredibly dumb moves), keeps Holl, Petry, Chiarot (Walman better), but then signs Kane, Senko (real nice adds)

I think he's tried but no one wants to take those cap dumps without major compensation.

Fabbri is a perennially injured 4th liner making $4 million a year. Why is paying a 4th to get rid of him dumb?

Wings off season just keeps getting more baffling by the day. As Gene Wilder once said "The suspense is terrible! I hope it lasts..."

I voted Fair Deal because all three sides come out well. Nice deal for Detroit because the Red Wings move a player and contract they didn't want, very good deal for Anaheim because the Ducks pick up a fourth-round draft pick, and GREAT deal for us Anaheim fans who now no longer have to listen to the nincompoop chorus singing about Anaheim having to reach the cap floor.

Fabbri might be perennially injured but he’s still a solid middle 6 player and Detroit isn’t desperate for the cap help (I know Seider/Raymond need contracts but they’re not taking more than 16mil combined)

Fair deal
we reach the cap floor with a single-year bad contract - check
we get rid of a struggling goalie and get a pick - check
detroit gets rid of a bad contract - check

I would rather get a right-handed guy though, but oh well. we just got Ryan Carpenter for a 2y AHL-only deal lol, can't complain

Would it really surprise anyone if one or both, sieder or Raymond got 8.5-9 each, given what the market has told us? Plus they also have outgoing offers to veleno & berggren so that'll be another 2.5-3 collectively. So their cap situation is a lot more tight than people think.

Jake Walman's cap hit is less than Robby Fabbri's and is the far more useful player.

And yet, it costs a 2nd to dump Walman while it costs next to nothing to dump Fabbri.

Just like Dallas in the case of Radek Faksa, I think Detroit got off easy here.

Detroit wins.

Fabbri is really not that good. Dumping him for a 4th (with a return, no less, even if the return is small), and replacing him with Tarasenko is a definitive upgrade. Wings fans wanted Fabbri to be dumped and this cost is far from horrendous.
On the Ducks side, they get a roster player who at worst is one year of an overpay (not that it matters, in fact they had to take someone for cap reasons), and at best is a guy that can be flipped at the deadline, who knows. Plus a 4th. And they get to be a bit more competitive.
Both sides improved here.

I said before the market showed if I were Seider and the wanted to lock me up for 8 years minimum is 9

Yzerplan is slowly getting rid of every goalie not in the NHL while leaving 3-4 goalies in the NHL!

Anaheim taking a cap dump for a 4th (while kicking in a C prospect). Huge win for Detroit.

If you think a 22 year old goalie struggling in the ECHL is a C prospect, I don't know what to tell you, it's honestly less than FCs. If you even see Gage dress for the Griffons this season you will know something has gone terribly terribly wrong.

The point is, they're paying for cap dumps, when every Ducks fan demands a king's ransom in similar ACGM situations.

Is Fabbri terrible defensively or something? Seems odd to have to pay to dump a fine middle six winger on a one year 4 mil contract.

Seems the epitome of a "need to send a contract for contract limits" to me too. Doesn't seem like a prospect
