<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Actually he made a nice distinction where he said the way he generates offence is not at all the way Caufield does. Caufield does not carry the puck, he finds the open space and sets up for a shot. Michkov carries the puck a lot and he, according to Arpon, passes much better than Caufield does.
How many games of Michkov's have you watched, as Arpon claims to have just watched the majority of the last year's worth of Michkov's games, and I believe him when he says he did.
I unfortunately use all my free rtime posting on this site and I cannot go scout Michkov.</div></div>
have watched 3 whole games and a bunch of higlights, i dont scout much but since we have a top 5 picks i watched 7 players. Everyone carries the puck more on international ice surfaces, its normal and expected. drouin was doing it on a small rink though. i dont mean to be condescending, but im not.buying.this comp as more than click bait or bad analysis from Arpon.

arpon basu wants clicks. watch the kid play and you'll feel differently about him. FYI caufield would be WAY a better comp.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Seems a little steep. Carolina can ice Svechnikov - Aho - Necas for 18 million for example and then role out Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Jarvis which is an entire top six for not that much more. Combine that with of Dach playing out of position as a natural center, there's a lot of questions. It's a line that's fine going forward, but struggles defensively. It's also a line that has been inconsistent in its production. Committing 25% of the salary cap to it seems... rough</div></div>
how much will that first line be next year? that the price for the next 3 years for the habs, for carolina you are looking at something around 25 million next year if necas has another 70 point season.

Kyle Connor
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ecupirate07</b></div><div>funny enough Burns, Patches, and JP are good defensive players. Im not sure how Puljujarvi is even in the discussion as he has always had really, really good defensive metrics. Either way they other two were added as pure depth pieces that we wouldnt count on to carry the load or player top minutes. We wouldnt pay that much of a price to have Connor just be a depth piece. All of those 5 players were acquired for cheaper than what it would cost for KC. Very low cost and very low risk additions. Low risk additions are fine for non match players. Paying a high price for a player who you would want to play big minutes and wont play defense, it just dumb.
you think coaches like maurice and others havent wanted Connor, Scheifele, and the group to play better 5v5 defense?</div></div>
fair point that if you get someone for peanuts the risk ia not as high. Connor would never win any selke for sure, but good defensive team will give you good defensive metrics.
i personally just think the canes should try a different strategy. i've been rooting for them for a while and its frustrating that while their cup window is open, they tend to shop their players in the garbage bin. not saying thwy should do this specific deal, but in my mind they need a better offensive threat and should be more agressive in getting one.

funny that canes seems to acquire either bad or suspisciously defensive players like domi, pulj, pacio burns and ghost. now you may say that they are actually good to play defense or whatever, but you would probably not have said that before the trade. hokcey players will adapt to playstyle, thats their job. Connor would be fine as a cane.

To MTL and WPG Fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>MTL has gotten a 1st OA pick once since the 1980's
I dont even remember our last 2nd OA pick
3rd OA at best is where we usually end up in terms of top 3 picks
Overall we dont get a lot of top 5 picks its usually later in the top 10 or into the early teens
Why?
We've never been injured enough to suck so bad we're last in the NHL
Atleast not since 1910 and 1926 as we always do just well enough to F ourselves into a 5th-15th OA pick
The fact that we hit bottom of the league once in the past 100 years should speak volumes about this fact and its authenticity.
IF not just look at our 5th OA pick as evidence.
But with a Healthy Caufield returning its a big boost.
Slafkovsky is looking to prove something and Owen Beck will be pushing for a roster spot again after being one of the final 2 cuts with Mesar.
RHP and Ylonen have this year before the kids push them out as Hughes guys and Bergavins picks are turning Pro at the same times (Hughes are overachievers , even the 5th round pick)
I'd say 8th OA most likely
Feels similar to 2016 with our young players rising in Gally and Danault , new defensive additions to bolster our blueline and uncertainty over injuries with Goaltending though.
Could be later though if Monty continues his Growth into next year</div></div>
so you would trade 8th overall for PLD? and about 7% of winning either #1 or 2 pick?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JoeROFLCOPTER</b></div><div>Yeah you can't guarantee anything. You also can't guarantee Chicago will pick Bedard, but it's likely. I understand that's a bit excessive, but the holes in DET are quite clear. He could go with a LHD, or another right handed forward; but why? We desperately need a top LHW and a 2nd RHD.
Obviously he could go another root, but expectations is that he'll pick BPA at these respective positions.</div></div>
agreed that those are the needs Detroit have. Could see them grabbing even another center too, woukd not be too far fetched. But BPA is another subjective notion that we cant predict what his yzerman vision on this. Sorry if my comment seemed agressive at first. i believe we do share opinions that are similar.

The Tkachuk Effect
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JoeROFLCOPTER</b></div><div>No clue what you mean to get out of this statement, but it's probably something stupid.
Mock drafts differ, meaning different players will be available. Obviously if Leonard and Moore are there at 9, there's a decision, but if Leonard is there at 17OA (hypothetically, this doesn't happen) along the names of other middling prospects, Yzerman takes him, probably.</div></div>
what i'm saying is out of all mock drafts i've seen and the reply on them, for some reason everyone thinks they know what pick yzerman will make. (which is already weird since he often goes off the board with his pick).
it seems no one learn with each draft. there is always someone sure prospect who falls. How many time did you hear last year '' my Gm will take brad lambert '' or the year before '' my Gm will take Raty '' if they fall past top 10.
Long story short you cant guarantee anything because you have no clue like anyone here what yzerman want or will do.
Now you can make up your mind if i'm saying something stupid or not.
