Wild Bill strikes early again

Créé par: Schmidty2go
Équipe: 2020-21 Wild du Minnesota
Date de création initiale: 25 févr. 2021
Publié: 25 févr. 2021
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Billy makes two big moves to finally bring home a #1 Center for a franchise that has never had one. Moves both picks this year (that could be lottery picks) and moves out of the first round of a D-heavy draft. He also solves his expansion draft plans as Kahkonen & Addison allow the Wild to move on from Talbot and Dumba.
Transactions
1.
MIN
  1. Pinto, Shane [Liste de réserve]
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2022 (OTT)
Détails additionnels:
Ottawa can't be in rebuild forever, and have an available D protection spot with the 7-3-1. They added 6 prospects in the first two rounds of the 2020 draft, so they use some assets to add backend scoring while its RHD prospects continue to develop which don't look ready.
OTT
  1. Dumba, Matt
Détails additionnels:
Wild get a needed young Center who can win the dot. They also open up flexibility to go into the expansion draft with a 7-3-1 plan as Addison looks like the real deal for next year.
2.
MIN
  1. Eichel, Jack
Détails additionnels:
Buffalo needs a change of scenery, this isn't working. With Cozens looking to be legit, Eichel's 10m salary will be better divided across players that can help now and 2 picks to continue to build from below.
BUF
  1. Fiala, Kevin
  2. Khovanov, Alexander
  3. Talbot, Cam
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2021 (MIN)
  5. Choix de 1e ronde en 2021 (PIT)
Détails additionnels:
Wild offer 2 1st round picks that could be lottery. A young dynamic goal scorer in Fiala. A legit starting goalie, something Buffalo has been lacking. And a big young center prospect who is almost NHL ready.

Every Wild offer I see for Eichel is amongst the worst this site has to offer. This isnt in the ballpark, let alone the city that the ballpark is in

Man idk seems like an overpayment. That’s a deal I’d do for a guy like Seth Jones but not a guy who wouldn’t fit next to Chabot or Brannstrom.

Gee, this Wild offer is weaker than so many offers I see that Leafs are suppose to give to give for 1.5 years of Forsberg.

I get the frustration of losing a franchise player (we lost Gaborik... our only franchise player to date)... but what offer are you expecting as a Buffalo fan? 2 lottery picks, a young 30 goal scorer, a starting goalie which even you have to admit hasn't existed in Buffalo since Hasek and a the Wild's 4th best prospect (a Center). You won't get top dollar as your star wants out.... that puts you at a disadvantage. So what does your offer need to look like as I think that is as competitive with any you'll see.....

So if the Wild add in a pick... what would you need? Be reasonable....

There's no use discussing with that guy. He thinks the starting offer is something like Kaprizov+Rossi+.

Ottawa would be 100 times better to keep Pinto and that 1st rounder and spend 6m on a UFA who is just as good or better than Dumba.
That's the problem with so many of these trades where a big cap player is traded for no trade going back. Ottawa (in this case) can get much better value spending money on UFAs or keep their picks
Look what 5.9m Schmidt got Vegas last year....a third round pick.

There are reports that say Buffalo told the Rangers any offer starts with Laf and Kakko ... at which point NYG hung up the phone.

That's a horrendous deal for Ottawa. Probably a top 10 pick and a B+ to A prospect is way too much for Matt Dumba.

Drastic difference between an aging Schmidt and Dumba. No comparison.

Think Sens learned from the Duchene trade that they shouldn't be moving first rounders if they aren't certain of them being a playoff team. Yet another lost Byram pick would look extremely bad.

I'm not sure if you realize this, but bringing up the Schmidt trade as some barometer for Dumba's value just makes you look completely clueless. Like no credibility whatsoever.

With Norris and Stuzzle looking to be legit, you going to play Pinto as your 3C?

I dunno . . . this team looks like Edmonton to me: McDavid, Draisaitl and spear carriers. Who are your elite or even first-class forwards other than Eichel and Kaprizov?

If both Minnesota and Pittsburgh make the playoffs this year, you'll probably have 2 picks in the 17-20 range. You might find the possibility of picking up a better #1 C than Marcus Johansson then (via trade, not pick).

That’s true, but at a certain point you have to start winning...

They need to be at least thinking about a playoff spot next season so a 2022 1st seems reasonable as an ask. It’ll likely be a worse pick than 2021 and the Wild have to wait that much longer for the return.

I don't disagree with that, but have high hopes for Rossi and Boldy in the next two years, along with guys like Beckman and Khusnutdinov in 3-4 years.

Ullmark>>>>>>>>>>Talbot so thats not a positive in any capacity, even if they were devoid of goaltenders 33 year old Talbot is not the answer. Also SINCE HASEK??????????? Not Ryan Miller?????????? Even Biron was a decent starter after Hasek, what are you talking about. They then had Lehner but Botterill let him walk for free. Any way... 2 picks in one of the 2 least scouted drafts in the last 50 years, this years is so random that Raty was a lock for #1 in October is now sitting at #11. This year is an absolute crap shoot and these next 2 drafts are probably the 2 least valuable years in recent memory. This year doesnt even look that strong so they could absolutely whiff with that pick. They are not as valuable as you think they are. Then Minnesota's 4th best center prospect... for a franchise Center... Eichel has not said he wants out, everyone on this website just has nothing better to do than hope that happens, even if he did teams would beat this offer without even knowing it existed. It starts with Kaprizov + Rossi +

Pinto is considered Ottawa's 6th best prospect according to Pronman on the Athletic. And would be the 3rd best Center behind Norris and Stuzzle once he moves to Center where they expect him to play after getting more comfortable (not that he needs much more time by the looks of it.. guys a stud)

The UFA D market is not great next year and Schmidt was a pure cap dump that had to be done immediately. I think the Wild should rightly expect a 1st in return, along with a decent prospect. Pinto may be too much if you think that 2022 1st is gonna be top 15.

I know people like you don't like intelligent conversation, but there is heck of lot difference between Vancouvers 3rd pick....about 75th overall, and Ottawa's 1st rounder in 2020 which might be 10th overall and the highly rated Pinto.
So even if you think, there difference between the playing ability of Schmidt and Dumba( which there is), it sure isn't that much. You gotta know Dumba isn't that much of a difference maker, though he is a good Dman

And like the Rangers... the Wild hang up the phone. One small correction is that Khovanov is their 4th best prospect (not 4th best Center prospect). I can get your concern around the unknown of this years draft. I can give you that but I think even you know deep down that Eichel won't be playing for Buffalo next year.
