Wild Bill strikes early again

Créé par: Schmidty2go
Équipe: 2020-21 Wild du Minnesota
Date de création initiale: 25 févr. 2021
Publié: 25 févr. 2021
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Billy makes two big moves to finally bring home a #1 Center for a franchise that has never had one. Moves both picks this year (that could be lottery picks) and moves out of the first round of a D-heavy draft. He also solves his expansion draft plans as Kahkonen & Addison allow the Wild to move on from Talbot and Dumba.
Transactions
1.
MIN
  1. Pinto, Shane [Liste de réserve]
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2022 (OTT)
Détails additionnels:
Ottawa can't be in rebuild forever, and have an available D protection spot with the 7-3-1. They added 6 prospects in the first two rounds of the 2020 draft, so they use some assets to add backend scoring while its RHD prospects continue to develop which don't look ready.
OTT
  1. Dumba, Matt
Détails additionnels:
Wild get a needed young Center who can win the dot. They also open up flexibility to go into the expansion draft with a 7-3-1 plan as Addison looks like the real deal for next year.
2.
MIN
  1. Eichel, Jack
Détails additionnels:
Buffalo needs a change of scenery, this isn't working. With Cozens looking to be legit, Eichel's 10m salary will be better divided across players that can help now and 2 picks to continue to build from below.
BUF
  1. Fiala, Kevin
  2. Khovanov, Alexander
  3. Talbot, Cam
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2021 (MIN)
  5. Choix de 1e ronde en 2021 (PIT)
Détails additionnels:
Wild offer 2 1st round picks that could be lottery. A young dynamic goal scorer in Fiala. A legit starting goalie, something Buffalo has been lacking. And a big young center prospect who is almost NHL ready.

Rube against rube.

Why are you calling me a rube? Even you said it was a strong trade... maybe a Rossi short but even you said you wouldn't do that. So I am trying to make a trade suggestion that would help my team but it isn't as ridiculous as a few are making it out to be....

I just don't see us putting together a package that beats what other teams could offer. Eichel could not be more of a perfect fit for us: top tier, right shot, offensive, center under 25 and signed long term. But we aren't in a position to give up the assets it would take to get him. Our best bet is to hope Rossi turns into a top line player or hope we can win the lottery for Wright, Savoie, or Lambert in 2022.

We've been "hoping" for 20 years for a #1 Center.... need to stop hoping and move the assets to get him. Those other teams can offer more prospects, but not the same amount of draft capital or are in any better shape than the Wild. I think the Wild are closer than LA, and I am not sure the Canes are even interested. The Rangers are, and have good prospects but have said they won't move Laf or Kakko... so then how good is the rest of the prospects they can offer?

WHEN it goes down, and it will be within the next year... based on your expectations you'll feel fleeced with the real offer once you see it. It might not be the Wild, but it will be closer to my offer than yours. smile

It wont

My post was pointing out that it's pointless to try to have a discussion in good faith about the very realistic chance that Eichel could be traded, because your counter-offer is as ridiculous as all the offers you claim are complete garbage, such as the offer in the OP.

I get that you don't want to trade him, but if you're just going to make horrible counter offers instead of trying to find a deal that works for both sides, there is no point in talking to you. Do you disagree?

My trade offer is as realistic as Eichel getting traded. I also have said multiple times this doesnt work for Buffalo so you havent even brought up a trade that works for both sides either. Draft picks are filler, especially in a weak unscoutable draft, Minnesota has nothing left to offer

Again, I wouldn't trade Kaprizov for Eichel straight up. He has the potential to be just as good or better. No way Kaprizov will be a part of any deal with anyone.

A 23 year old 30 goal scorer and 2 1sts is the base, and not a bad one. Haggle over the prospect BUF wants but MIN won’t part with Rossi or Boldy so BUF says no.

The firsts in 2021 are 1/4th of the value they normally would be, they arent going to prop up a weak trade

Eichel - 24 years, 1C, 5,5 years contract. elite player, he is our better player.

In the 18-19 season he scored 82 points on a bad team. Last season, he walked at a pace of 94-95 points, still a bad team. He is the elite. When Kirill becomes as good as he is, give me a call. And I am definitely a big fan of Kaprizov, as I have seen a lot more of his games than all of you put together.

Pinto is considered Ottawa's 6th best prospect according to Pronman on the Athletic. And would be the 3rd best Center behind Norris and Stuzzle once he moves to Center where they expect him to play after getting more comfortable (not that he needs much more time by the looks of it.. guys a stud)

So? Where he ranks in the Sens pool doesn't affect what his value is. He's a really strong C prospect, and while he probably ends up as the 3C In Ottawa, he's still got some real top 6 upside. He's a really valuable piece, and Matt Dumba isn't worth him and a top 10 pick.

Also besides Jake Sanderson, everyone ahead of Pinto on the prospect pool (Batherson, Norris, Brannstrom Stützle) have all graduated. So he's really more like their 2nd or 3rd best prospect.

I don’t think that’s true....

While this draft may not have a Laf or Byfield, there are still NHL players in there. It’s still 2 (likely) mid 1sts which are probably as valuable as any other mid 1sts. It’s not like somebody is throwing a lottery pick at BUF.

This draft is unscoutable and player values are all over the place. Its also currently being led by defensemen, which doesnt help when you lose your franchise center and already have a ton of NHL quality D prospects

I’ve said this before but if you’re expecting a top 10 pick in 2022, what are you doing? Do you want to start winning the year after? I get that there has been some mismanagement but that top 6 looks like it will be special sooner rather than later. The back end is where you need help and by deferring the pick a year, having Dumba should make that pick less valuable.

End of the day, bet on yourself and that’s the base of this deal. I’m fine haggling over Pinto but a 1st and a decent prospect should be the ask. It’s pretty reasonable for a RHD in his prime.

I think this is a major point in all of this. If this is 2 unprotected 2022 firsts, im a lot more interested. Its just a thing i guess, not all draft classes are equals.

So my 3rd overall pick this year that is going to be a 2nd pair defenseman in 6 years is worth as much as Stutzle. Try making that trade

I’m actually pretty jazzed about 2 picks. I would have rather had 15 OA last year but I’ve never cheered harder for PIT to get beat.

I would have loved to grab Dawson Mercer or Lukas Reichel at 15 last year, but realistically, the player we get with their pick this year is probably going to be roughly the same quality. However, with this year's pick, there's also a chance that it could be much better (top 10), so I'll take that.

Does anybody even have 2 2022 1sts? And if I get Eichel on my team, I’m more willing to offer picks because they are probably worse than they would have been. If you push the picks back to 22/23, you’re likely looking at 20 or higher. Teams aren’t gonna give up assets for Eichel if they don’t think they aren’t gonna won more now.

Yeah youre really making your case bud. You cant make a logical argument for this trade, tell everone else that the trade needs to work for both sides when this clearly doesnt work for Buffalo, have no answers for that and then cant make a logical argument on how 2 drafts are worth the same when theres a clear disparity in talent, and cant even $hit talk without looking dumber.

Wow this is a impressive thread, like 3 pages. Wild aren't getting Eichel, and this wouldn't be the offer to do it. Talbot is a nice goalie for the Wild but Sabres would showcase the holes in his game. Ultimately Eichel ends up in LA or NY. Rangers and Kings have a lot of nice prospects Wild won't be able to out bid them. Watching the Kings now I think they offer Byfield and a bit more and see what happens. Kings are actually within range of a playoff spot and Eichel might put the Kings over the top for the 4 seed.
Last thought if Wild were to make a offer for Eichel, it probably starts with Rossi and Wild 21 and 22 first and then keep adding. Wild would probably need to move Dumba for cap space and assets to include in the deal, IMO.
