As a Canucks fan, I definitely see a number of ridiculous trades proposed by Canucks fans and feel embarrassed. But I am also consistently surprised by how highly Habs fans value their prospects relative to Elias Petersson. Even if he wants out, there will be competition. The number of elite, number-one centers who could win a Selke and score 100 points that are available on the trade market is essentially nil. The Canucks could likely get a better haul than this selling him next trade deadline as a rental.

Hawks obviously decline. A single 1st isn't near enough to move the remaining 4 years and $27m owed on that contract. Gallagher hasn't been a $6m player since the 18/19 season. That contract is easily one of the worst in hockey. And Tampa Bay declines as well. They can't afford Pearson's cap hit once Vast returns from LTIR.

Canucks easily decline. None of those prospects come close to being valuable enough to be the return for Pettersson. If that’s the best offer out there, Vancouver would be better off letting Pettersson get offersheeted and taking the 4 1sts from that, since it would be a lot more value than you’re offering up here.
