Those two players do nothing for CHI and Ludwinski has a lot more potential than he gets credit for. CHI declines.

Well, if you consider the offensive output he is capable of at that cap hit, it makes a ton more sense. Only because of his age, does the 6 years scare me. But, he could just as easily still be playing at a high level by then. He doesn't have many heavy miles on him, most of his NHL career has been spent within EDM's rebuild.

Not a chance in hell CHI does this. A hot handed goalie isn't getting any team to give up this much, let alone a rebuilding CHI Blackhawks team. We have goalies on the way. We're fine for now, and we will address goaltending IF and WHEN needed, which is WAYYYY down the road.

Contrary to the other Hawks fans in here I would VERY MUCH consider taking Nuge as payment for taking the Campbell contract. He is a very good and underrated player at a fantastic cap hit for 6 more seasons. My only concern is whether he can keep up the play for that long. Might take a little more than Nuge, but I consider him to be a very valuable asset.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Oilers_29</b></div><div>It took a late first to dump Cal Peterson at 3 years left for 5 million and he is just buried in the AHL which is probably what will happen to campbell and that would he 3.8 off the cap for 3 years.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BankersBox</b></div><div>Thats a good comparison age and ability. But the trade wasnt as simple as a late 1st.
Philly took Sean Walker, Grans and a 2nd in the deal.
Walker has been floating around some trade rumours, if hes flippped its a 1st, 2nd, plus what ever Walker is moved for. Grans was a recent 2nd round pick.</div></div>
ALSO, the term on Peterson was only two years.
ALSO ALSO, LA had to retain 30% of Provorov's contract to make it happen, which is a $2.025M cap hit for two years.

Yeah. I wouldn't mind continuously overpaying him until we get to a point where "getting to the cap floor" isn't an issue. He has been great for CHI on and off the ice, as far as I can tell. Then again, I was saying the same thing about Perry right up until he was pulled from the lineup last week.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BankersBox</b></div><div>The D prospect you are thinking of might be Levshunov, from Belarus. The d prospects are probably a strength of this team, adding a high end right shot could round out that group.
Chicago should push for Nylander this off season. He isnt the defensive wizard like Hossa but he elevates the guys around him.
Id rather have Nylander at 11M then Boeser at 8M. I see a lot more Tor games than Van so I am more familiar with Nylander.</div></div>
Personally, I don't think we should sign any big ticket free agents (if they even make it to free agency). BUT, if we were to go after one, Nylander or Reinhart would be my choice for long term. For shorter term deals, I would target someone in the Eberle/Stamkos age group.
One thing I really wouldn't mind CHI doing is making a push to get Jarvis out of Carolina. I know it would cost assets, but I think he could really be worth it, depending on the price.

Yeah. I kinda wonder if Nazar might want two full seasons as well, having missed most of his rookie season.

Or "better" if you're hoping for a high draft pick. haha. Honestly, though, he is a guy that could pop in a top 6 role given the right situation. He is skilled, fast, and has a high motor. I've been a little interested in him since his days with the Isles. Either way, he is just another body. We'll see how it goes.

Tweaks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jaok3</b></div><div>Agree, there is a illness in leaf land called no balls. This team lack the unity to go anywhere. They don't stickup for each other and when other teams start a scrum half the leafs just watch.</div></div>
Maybe. I think it's not just the roster itself but the pressure they under from fans and media. Very large very passionate and VERY critical fanbase. The more expectations and pressure there are, the easier it is to choke. But, I'm sure the lack of grit and physicality contributes as well. The fan base is so quick to turn on players that there is no unity there either. No offense meant, btw. Just sayin, having your players backs more and not putting so much pressure on them could probably go a long way in making them a better team. Not sure how you get an entire fan base to do that, though.
When we were winning in CHI, we had their backs and they played their @sses off for us. Also, the leadership group was phenomenal. But, after a while the players got worn down and the expectations were too high from all directions and the machine just failed. Plus bowman made dumb moves and handed out dollars, term, and clauses like candy, otherwise CHI's "dynasty" or whatever you want to call it, could've lasted a lot longer, I think. Personally, I don't like using the word "dynasty" referring to the 2010's Hawks, but for lack of a better word, I'll use it sometimes.

I'm so happy it's DET. My pick was either them or BUF. But with the season BUF is having, it probably isn't a move they should make.
Watching Cat and Kane together again is hopefully going to be better than the Kane and Breadman reunion was.

The only issue is the leafs whole d-core except McCabe lack any sort of physical presence. This makes it difficult until next season. Rielly, Lilly and McCabe next season need 3 nasty guys to join them, than they will have a solid defense.</div></div>
For sure. Keefe should've been replaced over the summer. I think Lilly could still add enough physicality to his game for it not to be considered a weakness. He is still so young compared to the typical age group for dmen in their prime.

CHI declines. You can talk up Bertuzzi and Brodie all you want, but the reality is, Brodie is old and they are both pending UFA's. Nothing there is interesting to CHI aside from maybe Minten, and Minten doesn't pay for Dicky, Raddysh, and dumping Reaves. Bertuzzi is someone who should be kept FAR AWAY from CHI's rebuild.

Marner To Chicago
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>Think of it as test driving a Ferrari. What if Marner doesn't work out in Chicago? I'm sure Columbus wishes they had Gaudreau for one year before committing long term to him at big money.</div></div>
You think a team pays that much to "test drive" a pending UFA for one year? That trade would be the worst possible use of assets. Gaudreau will be fine. Jarmo Kekalainen is just a child with no real plan or vision, just throwing crap at the wall and hoping it sticks. I probably wouldn't even trade Jones for Marner 1 for 1. Not because I think Marner is bad or lacks value, but because he is a pending UFA that, if CHI has interest in him, we could just wait a year, see if he makes it to free agency, and not give up anything for.

CHI isn't doing any of that. The retention alone is worth more than what you are offering.
