Ridiculous he couldn't get paid. I don't give a rat's ass what his playoff production is, you need steady reliable producers and possession guys in the reg season too. Hilarious underpay.

What an uninformed take.
You don't have to put up points to be a 5v5 contributor, dude's outshooting and out-chancing his opposition in every playoff run participated going back to 2018.
Outscored his opposition in every playoff run apart from the Devils one also.

The Devils and the Habs scratching Tatar in their respective runs where nothing but poor management decisions.
Having Tatar on the ice instead of guys like Lazar, Byron and Wood would've given the Habs and the Devils better chances at winning then deciding to scratch him.

Why don't you go have a banana and take a nap and see if you can't sleep all that snark off champ.

you can just look at a stat sheet and base 100% of your decisions off of it. Byron was outplaying him period in the playoffs. love tatar but he showed no heart. everybody was giving their 100% and he was being a passenger on the ice. i hope you he can turns thing around, but the scratch was definitly deserved in the playoff. hockey is a system game and you have to follow it.

Tatar Playoff History:

2022-23 Playoffs: (-7)
2020-21 Playoffs: (-2)
2019-20 Playoffs: (-1)

Last 3 Playoffs: (-10)
Playoff Career: (-14)

He's definitely not outscoring his opposition in every playoff run.

Did you just try to refute my (valid) points with made up stats that are the opposite of reality?

Grab that soft drink of choice and relax. Just make sure it's not a sugarless f*** or you might regret it.

What's the difference between signing on July 1st and September 12th? Nothing.

?

Question mark.

Exactly. Nobody knows what he was offered on July 1.

By signing with COL, he obviously favored a deal with a Cup contender. I'm sure he was offered more money.

Great deal. Analytics darling, on an absolute steal for the value he brings in the regular season, and 1.5mil is probably about right for what he'll do in the post season

Ah yes, the good old +/-. Didn't realize you're such big of a knucklehead as to bring such a non-stat up in the year of 2023.
My mistake, I've clearly overestimated you.

Here you can see for yourself that at 5v5 Tatar's outscoring or breaking even (this I didn't notice for the Habs runs, admittedly) in goals for vs. goals against in the playoffs.
2018

2020
2021
(while you're at it why don't you have a look at how Tatar's outchancing and outshooting the opposition every single playoff run he's involved in)

Given how my initial comment was on his 5v5 play I thought this was obvious enough as to not needing a caveat or having to be spelt out, but then again, I did overestimate your comprehension of reading and context.

Time for that nap now buddy.

We live in a world where a possession monster like Tatar has to scratch and claw his way into a 1 year deal but guys like Tyler Myers and Josh frickin Anderson makes 6m a year WITH TERM. So unfair.

That aside, this is such a massive W for the Avalanche it’s not even funny. A complete home run of a signing.
5v5 monster.

WOW, All I heard was "East coast team" when it came to rumors for Tatar so this came out of left field.

3rd line RW spot is now set with him alongside Wood-Colton it has a Jersey vibe (Either former Devils or local product).

That means training camp is going to be a really tough battle for the 4th line spots (which is fine by me) and when Kovalenko comes over from Russia.

If Tatar is a ghost come playoffs AND Landeskog is healthy (both hypotheticals I know) then it's a perfect match. If Tatar can contribute in a 3rd line role in playoffs then this is all just gravy.

It's also a hedge against Drouin not working out in the top 6.

And the Avs use up their cap space from Landeskog's LTIR which they needed to maximize before the season started to be able to accrue any amount until the deadline.

Miles wood on your 3rd line would be a bad call, he isn't a good hockey player

Must be nice to live in a world of absolutes.

He can deliver value in the role that the Avs have for him and with the players he will be surrounded by.

You probably would have said the same about Val Nichushkin based on his time in Dallas. Smarter hockey people don't look at things the way you do.

Sometimes it's just getting the round peg into the round hole instead of just bashing all those "bad" square pegs.

sucks at everything or just some things?

Taking penalties = SUCKS
Consistency = needs work
Making good reads = see consistency
Shooting = see consistency
Net Presence = doesn't suck
Playing physical/grit = doesn't suck
Shots per 60 = pretty good
Skating = really good

So everything he's bad at you can just dismiss as inconsistency? lol

His skating is not really good. He is really fast, but only in a straight line, and he has zero finesse.

No I meant "needs work"
One year he shoots 14% the next he shoots 6%. I would say his shooting is inconsistent. You can't say he Sucks because he HAS done well; just not consistently well.

Sure then break skating down into straight line skating = Good. Edge work/finesse = BAD. All you are doing is proving that he is good and some things bad at others and inconsistent at some. That doesn't mean he is purely a BAD player.
