Carlsson wore 37 in rookie camp, I imagine McTavish wore it during the regular season, I’m going to assumer Carlsson didn’t pick his rookie camp number and will switch to something else

Mind changed. Doobey should call Calgary and get backlund for Carter and stuff.

Why is Carter planning to waive to go anywhere. He chose to leave LA to go to Pitt and I doubt he goes sure Pitt I will do you a favor.

Hes got a NMC

Pitts stuck with him

CGY will probs ret and trade Backlund at the TDL with 50% ret to a contender with actual assets. Someone like Carolina for instance. Or who knows if CGY does well he could extend along with the other 2 pending FA.

Pitts done they got no more cap space, not a lot of assets, and got to focus on extending Guentzel which wont be cheap

i bet if Carlsson makes the NHL he'll get 91 (he could also get 21 if Isac Lundestrom decides to switch or is traded, which is unlikely)

This is where schiefele needs to be. No offense to Jeff carter but….I’d call the penguins cup contenders if they could have some drastic improvement right at this roster spot specifically.

I doubt they can make that happen tho yeah?

Could the penguins give up something valuable? Idk. They obv don’t have something similar to give back.

im quite doubtful scheifele is traded at all this season. that would 100% mean a rebuild as there’s no proven top 6 C after him in the depth chart and thats not how they’ve been marketed this year - they have good pieces on the team and will make a playoff push again. jets will take a run at signing him and hellebuyck to an extension before giving them up to another team

I have a feeling he breaks out this year with Wheeler gone, as long as they put him at RW on the top line

As far as trading draft picks:

Bostons 2024 has been previously traded and is top 10 protected. If top 10, then the 2025 1st replaces the 2024.

I just wanted to clarify: this means Boston can trade neither pick, right? I cannot recall seeing a trade where the “other” draft pick is traded away, since it is possibly owed to the first trading partner. I wonder if there is prescedent to trade the “other” pick before the first trade’s outcome is determined.

Boston sends Jake DeBrusk and “either the 2024 or 2025 1st round selection, depending on the conditions of a previous trade” to the Jets for Schiefele. Can they?, it just hasn’t been done this way yet?

If this is not allowed, I wonder how much consideration is given to having one of your most valuable futures assets frozen for some significant time period. If this is not allowed, for all purposes of this season, the pick doesn’t exist.

Florida traded their 2022 1st to Buffalo for Reinhart and it was top 10 protected with it potentially becoming the 2023 1st. Florida traded their 2023 1st to MTL in the Chiarot deal before the 2022 picks condition was settled. If the 2022 pick had been top 10 Florida would have kept it, sent the 2023 to Buffalo and a 2024 1st to MTL. So yes, Boston could trade their 2025 1st as long as there is a condition for that pick ending up going to Detroit.

Saw something funny about VGK targeting Petterson next offseason

Idk about that but what I can say is there is someone they could target

Nylander

And there are advantages. He is younger than Marchessault and is just as good of a goal scorer

They can give him 9.5m and still have room to do some dmg

Plus they love going after guys like this and seem to be wanting to move on from the old era

The parabola of capacity.

That new arena in Mesa can't come soon enough...

I'm not a fan of signing guys early just to be bent over, Ottawa got bent over here, if it were 7m I'd be like yea sure fine. Same deal with Norris thought they paid too much with the sample size they had.

I thought Stuztle deal was great. (although I've always been really high on Stu, and it was sorta comp to Hughes who are similar esque players but Stu is like a tier down for me)

I get gambling on success but lets be real did they have to do this

Could have bridged than signed him to a deal like this after it was done

As then they would have known for sure he was worth or not worth a deal like this

Sure theres a small sample but man 77 games to get a tad over 8m idk

Sanderson is more similar to Stutzle than Norris. Stutzle was always elite in transition, just needed to figure out how to take advantage of his skillset and turn those entries into more dangerous scoring chances. When he did that his production exploded. Sanderson will likely follow a similar path.

Norris is a high end goal scorer, I think he’s fairly compensated. Ottawa has hit a lot more often than not with their long term deals for their young players.

Sandersons contract takes up his entire prime, at worst he lives up to the contract, at best he provides a ton of excess value. He puts up 50 pts next season and he’d end up commanding 9+ mill on an 8 year deal.

Same with Miro...
Not a fan of the Sanderson contract. He would have been RFA without arbitration rights next summer right???
Why not wait a season?
Its the treaded sophomore season anyhow.
