Final Moves
yeah demelo makes other defensemen better, the jets need that especially with bowness bringing in new defensive systems. demelo’s value to the jets is higher than what people think. dvorak is a useful player but theres internal competition for the middle and bottom 6 too. i’m for the jets seeing what we have with the new systems and re-motivated players this year, what happens this season will have a huge impact for next. so i really dont expect the jets to give up assets for dvorak, who isnt someone thats gonna push the roster over the top

i used to be on the kerfoot to winnipeg train but seeing how training camp is unfolding, im not sure if chevy will add to the bottom 6 as it appears theyll be filled internally. also winnipeg took salomonsson this year in the second round, he wont be traded so soon

retool the forward depth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canucks123</b></div><div>wb 3rd or 4th included</div></div>
i dont think its a good fit regardless unless vancouver overpaid to dump him. jets are lacking on the physical side which dillon brings and although he’s not amazing defensively he’s not bad either, which other people in this thread have already pointed out. with bowness doing a major restructure of how our defense operates, it’ll be best to see what we have with all the nhl-ready defense on the roster.
regarding getting pearson, bowness also seems to be leaving the roster open for our young players to compete, which we need imo. pearson is fine depth but hed block one of our younger players and the cap space could be better spent elsewhere, such as if we’re in a good standings position at the deadline. vancouver will likely have to get creative by dumping pearson somewhere else

gotta say im not a fan of these pearson for dillon trades, would be a bad move for winnipeg

agree with the winnipeg trade being a bad idea for winnipeg. im not a chicago fan but 2 firsts a prospect and young roster player seems like a pretty good starting point for kane, maybe enough for a deal? price will be driven up for deadline tho

If they trade Holl they’re letting Sandin sit for a year instead of bending to sign him. As for cap space there’s always another option. Muzzin is always an option. Not just a trade but LTIR.
As for Holl winning the Calder I meant Calder Cup not Calder Trophy. AHL cup.</div></div>
yeah i suppose we’ll see if muzzin or someone else goes on LTIR after training camp. theyll probably have to pay to get rid of muzzin tho which isnt the case for kerfoot or holl imo. just feels to me that moving kerfoot is the easiest way to solve some of the leafs’ problems

Whats Are Theyre Values
i dont think wheeler scheifele or dubois will be traded this season but depending on how this and next season go, could get crazy value by selling them at the 2024 deadline. cant really disagree with your assessments tho except stanley does not play as physically as he should. not sure what the plan is for gawanke or kovacevic but gotta think that chevy will try and not lose them for nothing

luke tuch scored 10 points in 26 games with boston. sean farrell is a better prospect than tuch but still in that B tier. drouin has issues and dadonov is declining, neither are a lock for even 40 points. the late first is whatever. but none of that is worth it for the jets to consider trading their elite, cost-controlled winger in his prime that has over point per game upside. just doesnt make sense, so yeah i do want to see ehlers score more against the flames in a jets jersey lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DJSums17</b></div><div>Trading Kerfoot as a “cap dump” makes zero sense. He has incredible value and trading him to fit an unproven defence man (no matter his ceiling) would be dumb.
As for Holl he’s my opinion on who to go but between winning the Calder, and I think he was a SOO I think he’s untouchable for Dubas and that’s my 1 complaint about Dubas is that he has his guys (Also the Chicago team in USA hockey) and no one can budge him from that. Who knows, maybe Leaf’s will be **** and get a top 5 pick and get that kid from Chicago Steel. 🤣🤣🤣</div></div>
toronto is literally $1.5M over the cap right now, this concept isn’t for them to fit a defensemen (not sure who you’re talking about), it’s for them to be cap compliant when the season starts. he has value which is why the jets would pay to get him; they wouldnt pay *much* to get him because toronto *needs* to shed cap. he’s a cap dump with value.
trading holl doesnt even give the leafs enough room to bring up a player on ELC, they’d need to get rid of holl and another player lol. plus getting rid of holl only leaves them with 5 D. holl also never won the calder but i agree about your point with dubas and his Soo guys, other GMs have soft spots for players that give them tunnel vision too haha

jets arent gonna trade AND retain on BOTH dubois and dillon for two middle six players and a late first. wait until the 2024 offseason, if he isnt signed by then. this package would get beaten for just dubois at this season’s deadline

Ehlers
yeah i dont see the jets ever trading ehlers even in the first place going into a rebuild, the situation would have to be quite dire and i’d imagine he requests one too. bemstrom and chinakov are nice but the jets already have lots of prospects they should be giving a chance too. love the ehlers love tho, he’s elite and could explode this year

winnipeg doesnt need another forward with locker room issues that doesnt play defence. also winnipeg doesnt care about just fourth for money differences since they have the cap to take a contract of that size; you need to overpay a team for a variety of reasons to take on hoffman, not just cause hes overpaid lol

new jersey is in an intriguing spot now with their rebuild. does this move actually help them long term? especially losing holtz plus severson for this season. not sure how high people are on foote anymore. id think for this year itd be a bit unnecessary as NJD has a lot of serviceable LW and of course you have to pay hintz next season, although a lot of money is also being freed up

i mean yeah i would lower all those players, i was making a point about where i think hellebuyck should at least go. the canes were certainly better defensively than the jets and andersen’s injury history doesnt help his case
