good deal. Smart of KD to use the years of cap space galore to capitalize on signing longer deals of players to benefit from them once you are hoping to be good.
Vlasic at 4.6 might a be real good deal soon.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Saskleaf</b></div><div>Ok because I’m annoyed the leafs lost, I’m gonna rank all 8 names trademarked for the Utah NHL team
8. Utah HC
Do I really need to explain myself here lol
7. Utah Fury
It, A, is kind of boring and generic, B, doesn’t scream hockey, and C, probably works best with a fire theme and we already have the flames in the NHL. So pretty easy no for me
6. Utah Ice
It’s boring and generic, but at least it screams hockey
5. Utah Venom
Really cool idea, but doesn’t really fit either of hockey or Utah. Maybe it’s just me though
4. Utah Outlaws
Starting to get to the ones I really like, this is a strong name and rolls off the tongue really well, I just think there’s other names that fit a hockey team better. Maybe I’m putting too much emphasis on “hockey names” (aka names that have to do with cold lol), who knows. But even though this is a good choice I just think there are 3 better ones.
3. Utah Blizzard
There’s talk they want a mountain theme, this would fit really well with that. Plus it’s a “cold” name, plus it has 2 zs to fit the theme of Utah sports teams lol. Honestly it’s probably a toss up between this and Outlaws, but I gave the edge to Blizzard because it’s a better hockey name
2. Utah Mammoth
I think Mammoth is a really strong name, and it could make a really sick logo, kind of the NLL (lacrosse) Colorado Mammoth (which begs the question: is the NLL a relevant enough league that we have to worry about that? I’m guessing no but it’s not nothing either). I think Mammoths would have been better though which honestly is probably the biggest reason it isn’t number one.
And of course, 1. Yetis
As mentioned with Mammoth, I’m glad this is Yetis and not Yeti. But overall I think Utah Yetis should be what this team is called. Yetis are big and fierce (but have a lovable side too so good mascot potential), they’re from the mountains, they’re associated with snow, they’re white which can leave the jersey colour to be up in the air, and Utah Yetis sounds good and rolls off the tongue well. Hopefully this wins the contest</div></div>
This is my ranking too basically except I like Mammoth and Blizzard more than Yetis

Philadelphia Flyers signed Ivan Fedotov (2 Years / $3,275,000 AAV)
This is an overpay for sure, but really inconsequential in the long scheme of what the Flyers are trying to do. We needed a goalie, to backup/tandem with Ersson. Fedotov checks that. It's rumored he would only come over to NA at a certain number, and if this is the number and term that get's him here it's fine with me. Much prefer this scenario than him signing for >2 years.
Perfect term for him to serve as stop gap for Kolosov. Find it unfair to judge Fedotov off of the few games he did play. Flyers were playing worst hockey of the year through that time, and Fedotov's equipment was new and yet to be broken in which can be a struggle for goalies, stiff equipment is hard to play in.
*In fact Fedotov came in relief of Ersson in 2/3 games.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Kyle loves his draft picks. He isn't spending a 2nd on Hayton. Reading between the lines on his comments, the Hawks will be more aggressive than last year signing better, short term UFA's. And likely more open to taking on a high priced player or two for lesser assets than the past two summers. The primary goal remains unchanged. To build through the draft. Hawks are likely only trading 1st's or 2nd's to move up in the draft.</div></div>
fair enough.
I kinda expect a mix of both -- signings like Foligno/AA89 type signings, and 2nd or mid rounds picks for upside bets.
Truthfully I'm not really a huge fan of Hayton, which is mostly driven by me thinking he was overated coming into the year. Although he have 43 points in 82 games last year, then battled and struggled this year.

Originally I had it like that, I changed it because I wasn't sure if Hayton would have a spot in MTL's top 9. Also Kyle Davidson mentioned they can't finish bottom 3 again next year, which to me means they plan on making some moves this offseason. So I sent Hayton there.

I want Buium, Yakemchuk I think he goes before our pick without a doubt because his size + right handed. Scouts eat that stuff up.
Don't know if I totally agree about Laughton. Flyers have been pretty clear they'll only trade Laughton if it's an "overpay", 1st + prospect is rumored ask, and they've been rumored to be offered a 1st + 2nd before. This is less than that imo. 1.) Top 16 Protection On Pick. 2.) I don't think Krebs has a ton of value at this point, I mean Zamula had more points than him in a good chunk less games. He's basically a reclamation project atp. I don't think Buffalo has the space for him to grow, and he's nearing the point where he's gonna have to start showing he can be a consistent top 9 producer, or he just won't be a valued part of any NHL teams future.
Ellis contract, I think they'd prefer too for flexibility but if it costs decently signifcant assets to do so then yea probably not.

I mean I do too tbh. Buium is just the guy I want most, I'd be willing to trade up if he falls past 6, even though top 10 pick trades are fairly uncommon. But I would feel really confident in the long term back end, mix of offense, elite skaters, pure hockey sense.
I think Catton has a fairly decent chance of being there at our pick. Eiserman I think goes top 10, I don't think NHL scouts will be as concerned about his flaws as others are, because the talent behind the flaws. He's moldable.

There could be limited picks added.
But reasoning behind why SJ would take Ellis, SJ will need to reach cap floor to be complaint. Ellis expires around the same time SJ is hopefully turning it around. I don't expect SJ to be huge players in the UFA -> Flip Market just because they don't have retention slots to faciliate deals, and SJ won't be a super appealing place rn to sign give there recent success, and I think the appetite to dump cap along with picks has severely dimished and will only continue to do so with cap's rise.

Also wonder if there will be a mass exodus of trade requests due to managerial distrust / not wanting to live in Utah. It'll be an interesting offseason, I only hope they have good jersey kits 🤞</div></div>
I've heard only really good things about Utah as a place. My dad has been too 48/50 states, and has always said Utah is in his top 5. And I think the distrust is of ownership and ownership will be new. not really management. Billy came clean to the players.
TBH, for the team this is a really good thing. Armstrong will have permissions to spend to cap, players will have a ownership that is dedicated to winning, Utah is pretty nice.
Sucks for the fans, I'm not sure what i'd do. I'd probably still root for the team because of the players, but it's certaintly depressing. it sounds like they'll get a team eventually again though, so they should have to wait too long.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>zk97</b></div><div>Not sure about Dickinson as the Hawks pick, I think Korchinski can be a first pair guy someday unless the Hawks screw up his development
Habs better take Demidov over Eiserman if he's available
I think Flames pick Iginla at 8 over Catton honestly, and the Devils get him instead at 9
If Habs go Demidov over Eiserman, then I think the Wild take Eiserman at their pick to round out their top six (JEE, Boldy, Kaprizov, Rossi, Yurov, Eiserman)
Flyers should pick Connelly because I think they're the best fit to fix him with their New Era of Orange</div></div>
I don't have that confidence in Korchinski. If develops well I see no more than a Travis Sanheim type which is ideally a 2nd pair dman. I just have a feeling they are high on Dickinson based off the trend on recent picks, which some draft pundits have also reported that they've heard they really like Dickinson. Are they really at a point in their rebuild to pick off position of need? They kinda need everything. If the pundits are right, I wouldn't be surprised to see them take Dickinson really high.
I could see the Flames picking Iginla trying to have a tad more confidence in Conroy to not go for organization ties though. They really need a center. And it's sparse after Catton. Center is muich more important than Wing.
Wild made sense for Iginla too me because--there's no centers, and Guerin drafted Stramel last year because of his size, physical traits. Tij is smaller, but actually plays big, could be the physical beast they want to add.
Chose Hage over Connelly because Hage is a Center and imo has more upside than he's gotten credit for, which is the biggest hole in our Pool rn. Skates well, confident, can generate scoring chances with his legs, shot or, playmaking ability. He's also hardly putting up less numbers than Connelly. With Connelly it's less so the fixing him, it's more-so the press that comes with taking him.
