And all the bigger name contributors are locked up. They’re missing some picks, but have all their firsts for future pushes.

Kreider is 33, Panarin is 32, Trocheck is 30. Who knows when they start to regress. Shesterkin is going to get a big pay raise, and they're likely to lose Roslovic, Wennberg, Wheeler as they can't afford them after Shesterkin. I don't think they're better next year.

I can only see FL re-signing Reinhart if he takes less than Tkachuk. Either way FL is set up to be contenders for the foreseeable future as they have a majority of their core locked up.

Shesterkin has 1 more year left on his deal. Lindgren's deal (short bridge deal or long-term is their primary decision). They'll likely lose Wennberg, Roslovic, and Gustafsson as well as making a decision on Kakko. But they have Othmann, Jones, and Hollowell knocking on the door to the NHL so really all they need to do is replace Roslovic and they might as well roll with a youngster until the trade deadline to accrue cap space.

It really depends on what’s most important to him. Would he rather take a slight discount and live in one of the best cities in the US with no state income tax playing for a Stanley cup contender ; or would he rather take a few mill more to play for a team that won’t be a contender in a less desirable city.

9.25 x 8 = 74 mill to stay in FL

Or

11 x 7 = 77 to play somewhere like Utah


Florida either way will be fine, they don’t need to be desperate an overpay him.
