I think right now he’d get much more ice time if we had healthy guys on the right side. Effectively the rhd chart is -2 with Faulk+Bortuzzo, so he’s pairing with our 5th best rhd, or somebody is playing on their backhand; our 4th or 5th best lhd as a partner on the offside. Due to that the bottom pair is getting super protected minutes and there really isn’t the flexibility to mix the young guys with the top pairs for a few shifts per game. I think if the right side were healthy/Bortuzzo replaced, the young left side would be able to be used a ton. I’d much rather them at 21-23 years old to be skating 18+ min in the AHL than 10 min or pressbox nhl. Next season Scandella is off the books, will give Tucker more access to a role.
