Dislike the signing of pearson and arvy though. Also Marty is most likely retiring but def wouldn't hate him back on the blueline for cheap.</div></div>
Someone brought it up earlier this week, and I thought it was interesting. If you can give RV the Connor Brown contract (which he is eligible for), that's probably the most cost-efficient middle 6 winger we could sign.
Pearson would just cheap depth (like our Lewis signing), except he'll probably not feature nearly as much. Is Marty retiring? Havent heard anything on that front. Feel like if he was, it would've been announced already like some other guys who have come out.

Good for Maatta that hes seemingly rebuilt his career in Detroit, but we probably dont take him back in LA. He's not better than Mikey or Gavrikov, and 3M is too rich for us for what would be a 6D.

Viktor Arvidsson Gets the Connor Brown Special Contract
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>He's getting $4 million, just like Connor Brown.</div></div>
Yeah but 775k only counting towards this season would be massive.
Are there any conditions that he needs to hit to get all of the bonuses for next season, like games played? Cuz if there is, then there'd be some risk that he doesnt get that money. But if not, this is quite an interesting way to structure it.

lol if RV takes a league min contract to help us out like that with the cap situation, he deserves a statue

Option
Are the Islanders actually interested in moving Varlamov? It seems he had a really good season, and even took over the starting role at points over a struggling Sorokin last season.
A little concerned about 3 more years on his contract though, as he's already 36. Every year for a goalie in their late 30's is like a time bomb, you just never know when one injury ends their career.

No reinhart
Doesnt make sense from the Kings side. We'd be trading away from a position of high importance (RD) and strength on the team for a bottom 6 winger at a higher cap hit and a prospect.

Staying Competitive
Interesting thought experiment, Markstrom at 3M is certainly a bit more palatable. Not sure there is gonna be enough interest from the Kings side to give up a 1st round pick this year and probably our 2nd/3rd best D prospect after Clarke.
Seems more likely we try the UFA market for a goalie in that price range without need to give up assets.

Semi Realistic Kings Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Just_A_Guess</b></div><div>Tomasino > Kaliyev</div></div>
Tomasino plays a style that can fit in the bottom 6, so if he doesnt develop offense, he can still be somewhat useful as an NHLer.
Kaliyev has a higher ceiling, and has been extremely snakebitten. But even still, he has higher on ice Goals% and expected goals%. If a change of scenery works out for him and he is elevated in the lineup to play with guys who aren't plugs, I can easily see him hitting 20 goals.

Are they better or worse
Just considering the final roster, I think worse. We lose Doughty who plays some of the toughest minutes in the league. ATOI over 25, and pretty much always against the top 6 of any team. In this situation, we've only replaced him with Brodin on the top pair. Not a bad player per se, but Doughty was basically top 5 for defensive rating.
In favor of moving Gavrikov though (Boston/Ullmark probably say no), we need someone offensive on that left side to pair with Doughty, and move Mikey down with Spence to be a new, modern shutdown pairing.

LeUtah 2025
I think giving up Vejmelka (who admittedly had a pretty mediocre season) with that much retention is probably worth more than just a 3rd.
I'm not sure if he's the first choice, or even in consideration for the Kings as the 1A for next season. Ingram completely outplayed him in the crease last year, so I cant really make the excuse about the team in front of him either.

well hello there
Nah that would be a horrible move for PLD. I'd rather have him than KK, and I'm not giving up Spence just to have 1 year of Brent Burns.
That Byfield contract also doesnt make a whole lot of sense for us, cuz 4 years takes him right to UFA status. It's either bridge for 2-3, or max long term.

i don't even think this is semi-realistic, because Blake has already stated he wasn't even considering a buyout for PLD.

Rumor Mill trades for off season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mv21227</b></div><div>That’s a pretty good return for a pending UFA winger assuming Winnipeg can’t extend him</div></div>
Probably more about the position of the player they're bringing in. Looking at their lineups, they are quite thin on the blueline with guys likely not coming back or being moved. And weak at C if Monahan isnt returning.

He spent enough time in Montreal to know how crazy the media is. I dont see him wanting to go back to that kind of environment.

A hockey trade is made
Its certainly an interesting idea. Do Carolina need a 2C?
What happened to Spence in your lineup? I dont see the value of bringing in Myers at that cap hit. Would rather just bring in a cheaper 3LD like Martinez / Gustavsson to replace Englund in the lineup altogether.
If that means no Arvidsson, so be it. There are plenty of decent middle 6 wingers in the UFA market that we can probably bring in.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AK50</b></div><div>Nah, I’d choose Tomasino. Maybe for Spence or Turcotte though?
We don’t rlly need young wingers as we have a boatload of them with NHL potential already.</div></div>
Definitely not for Spence. Too valuable to the Kings to be trading for what is looking like a 3rd line winger. Turcotte maybe, but he plays in a more valuable position. Also has issues staying healthy (not exactly his fault he's been headshot twice in the AHL, but it is a concern).

If we had no options and had to do a 1 for 1 (two similar players looking for better ice-time usage, opportunities, change of scenery etc), I wouldn't mind this.
My preference to package him with picks or other prospects for a trade for a position of need. Experienced middle 6 winger, LD for 2nd or 3rd pairing, or a capable 1A goalie.

Marner 7 team trade list
LA is just not a fit right now with our cap situation. Priority is re-signing Byfield. Danault is too reliable of a middle 6C to be giving up, and I highly doubt he waives his trade clause to go back to eastern canada.

Trade returns for goaltenders are historically a little underwhelming from what people expect. I dont think the Kings deal their 1st rd pick this season for a goalie.

I think the Canes are better off trying to make a hockey trade for players that can help now rather than futures if they're moving Necas. Besides, the Kings dont have the cap space for Necas, they have their own star RFA to deal with.

Kaliyev needs a change of scenery and will likely get traded cuz we dont know how to use him.
but nick robertson is not the player I'd be willing to flip him for. dont think he has enough offensive upside, and he's far too small imo.

Piggy Backing off a Previous Caps Post
Kings dont really need young goalie prospects. They have Portillo maybe a year away, and Slukynsky after that.
Spence is better and will come in cheaper than TVR's current contract in the next two seasons anyways. Gonna take a lot more than 2 3rds for the Kings to consider moving Spence.

Marner waives for UTAH
Kings already have their RD sorted with Doughty Spence and Clarke, but I'm sure there are plenty of teams that would take Liljegren for just a 2nd.
Any particular reason why the Leafs want to get rid of a young RD putting up decent numbers? For a team so front loaded on contracts, I would've thought you needed the cheaper, young players helping out. I don't think Tanev can stay healthy enough to be worth 4.5M.

NHL 24 Franchise Sell
Kings pass. Binnington is not good or consistent enough of a goalie to be making 6M, and the Kings would have next to zero cap space to make any other signings. Maybe if he was 50% retained, but even then I'm not sure I'd do that deal. Laferriere is only going to get better, and we need all the value/ELC contracts on the team we can get.
