If its this one CBJ still pass (I'd read through those comments first).

Even if no one wants Elvis, his buy-out is pretty easy to swallow. Adding loose change to the trade doesn't change KJ is young, controllable, and has very high upside.

Even if we draft another D at 4OA, doesn't change KJ's trajectory with this team. Plus, we already have a better, younger version of McMichael with Sillinger.

Hunter Shepard might get you Kaliyev, but the Kings don't really have room for him. They already have their not-quite-ready AHL standout in Portillo.

TVR & two 3rds does not get you Spence.

See now that is surprising to me. But if Spence and the Kings cannot agree on a contract maybe something happens there

What loose change? Keumps is a better goaltender than Elvis
KJ is better than McMichael
a Second should bridge that gap but the two later selections are there to insure it.

Kings dont really need young goalie prospects. They have Portillo maybe a year away, and Slukynsky after that.

Spence is better and will come in cheaper than TVR's current contract in the next two seasons anyways. Gonna take a lot more than 2 3rds for the Kings to consider moving Spence.

Wouldn't say Keumper's last season inspires confidence. All the WSH ACGMs looking to trade him seem to jive with that. Plus, we already have our near-term future in G set with Tarasov and Greaves. If CBJ decide they need to move on from Elvis ASAP, his buy-out is easy enough to handle. No need to roll the dice on another goalie with term and cost.

KJ is also *much* better than McMichael. KJ damn near outproduced CM's entire ELC in his rookie year alone, and is two years younger. Only real hang-up right now is the shoulder surgery that knocked his year around. A 2nd isn't bridging that gap, nor are a few mid-rounders.

We don't need quantity. We need quality.

I don't think Spence will be on the Kings next season, but his return will be significantly higher than this. They don't need a replacement for him, as they already have Brandt Clarke waiting.

Wasn't Clarke already playing above him?

If Roy walks than they will need his replacement.

That's a highway robbery for the Caps. It's an atrocious deal for the Kings, and as for the CBJ trade, Kent Johnson is worth more.

Jackets pass. Id would rather KJ than McMichael and some picks. We are giving up the best player in the trade and have no reason to do that. We need to keep our young players with great potential. Im always game for a fair trade moving Elvis out, but leave KJ out of it.

No, Clarke played in the AHL last season.

If Roy walks, they can easily afford to re-sign Spence.

Hmm. Not interested in the goalie swap at all, nor am I particularly interested in downgrading KJ to McM and picks. Waddell seems to value Elvis, and based on comments from his intro press conference, I am less confident Elvis wears a different jersey next season than I was a week ago. The difference between McM and KJ is still more than a late future second and some mid-rounders even farther out. The best player in this deal is Kent Johnson, and the return should reflect that.

Really I could have swore I watched Clarke play. I am pretty sure he played 1/4 or so of the season

I don’t know about that. Elvis is a liability. I think as Waddell talks to PV he will see there needs to be a change. Elvis also played poorly in the WC. We have cheaper and more effective options in Tarasov and Greaves at a fraction of the cost. Waddell is a smart guy and can easily tell if someone isn’t going to work.

He got a 8-10 game look earlier in the season. Then he got in a handful of games when the Kings had some injury trouble and had to run 11/7, but was playing like 7 minutes per night during those games.
