Definitely not something Winnipeg looks at.

Hronek >/= to Necas. The Canucks aren’t adding a good prospect in that deal

That’s a pretty good return for a pending UFA winger assuming Winnipeg can’t extend him

Not really. It's basically a TDL return on value for a full year and neither player gives Winnipeg anything they need and the Jets need to wait 2 drafts for the 1st. There's no chance the Jets trade Ehlers for a rental return this summer, he'll be traded somewhere he's willing to extend if he's moved now.

Maybe check back at the TDL if he's still available.

Probably more about the position of the player they're bringing in. Looking at their lineups, they are quite thin on the blueline with guys likely not coming back or being moved. And weak at C if Monahan isnt returning.

If they don’t want a winger in return that’s fair. But I’d argue it’s more than TDL value

Guentzel didn’t get a guaranteed 1st. Obviously Pittsburgh got quantity but you could definitely argue the 2025 1st and Hoglander are both better than any piece Pittsburgh acquired for a better player

Toffoli returned a 2nd and 3rd and he had pretty similar production to Ehlers over the previous 2 seasons (Toffoli had 60 goals, 117 points in 143 GP prior to trade. 0.42 GPG, 0.82 PPG. Ehlers has 37 goals, 99 points in 127 GP the last 2 seasons. 0.29 GPG, 0.78 PPG)

Yeah, you could make that argument, but it also depends on the players available at the TDL.

Although that is likely moot, as the Jets would either keep him as an own rental if he won't extend by the TDL or trade him somewhere he wants to extend for a player(s) that fill a need and has term or team control this summer if he wants to move on.

That offer will get beaten whether it's futures with a higher odds pick/better prospect or better positional needs
