TDA is not re-signing to be a 7D and for under 1 mil. Someone will sign him, won't be Carolina.

On top of that, those trades are bad.

Just a quick comparison. When Kevin Fiala was grabbed by the Kings from the Wild it cost them a late 1st and Brock Faber (obviously not knowing what Faber has turned into) and Faber at the time was the #3 RHD prospect for the Kings behind Spence and newly drafted Brandt Clarke. Fiala at the time of being traded was coming off a 85 point season and Necas is coming off a 53 point season, similarly to MIN and Fiala the Hurrican cant afford to resign Necas which lowers his trade value and it also being public knowledge that he wants out of CAR lowers his value even more.

In my opinion you get no where near this kind of value for him, I'm not saying he isn't worth it but there are some de-valuing hurtles for the Hurrican here.

I think the Canes are better off trying to make a hockey trade for players that can help now rather than futures if they're moving Necas. Besides, the Kings dont have the cap space for Necas, they have their own star RFA to deal with.

Agree with most of this except last part. Canes have flexibility and could fit Necas (even with Guentzel Jarvis and one of Skjei or pesce extended). Would be tight but definitely doable.

I also think canes are probably looking at a Necas + deal to land an upgrade. Versus more of a Fiala/debrincat return. There’s also some similarities situationally with PLD - that trade looks awful in retrospect but at the time I don’t think it was seen as a slam dunk either way.

I would do that as long as the Pens aren't paying to retain on Smith. I am bullish on Kotkaniemi on the Pens. We need a young center badly.
