Did you ignore the part in which you are moving up from 12 overall to 7 overall in the draft. And the Bruins will add Geekie.

That would be fine with me. Totally interchangeable. It is anyone's guess as to who they will sign as 6th or 7th vet dman.

A Vezina winning goaltender does not qualify as a star? Who do you think the Canes are getting for Necas? They aren’t getting a Draisaitl tier star, nor are they getting a Brady Tkachuk tier star. Heck, they aren’t even getting a Trevor Zegras tier star for Necas. So not sure what your expectations are.
Before you say that Ullmark is not enough, let me tell you that I agree the Bruins would have to add picks and or Fabian Lysell to a deal for Necas. So yes Ullmark and a first or Ullmark and Lysell and a second is more realistic.

Simpler Moves
Realistic and good team. Lindholm at 8.25M just does not seem worth it to me. He may very well get that much money, but I wouldn’t go that high for a 2C at best who is probably past his prime.

Moving on from Debrusk
That’s a good team. Lindholm and Necas do feel like they will be targeted by the Bruins. They make so much sense. I would prefer the money going to old and slow Dillon partly goes to Heinen in between 2-2.5M. They could get a depth defenseman and get reinforcements at the deadline if necessary. Plus Lohrei showed he can tilt the ice in the top four. I would flip Coyle and Poitras as the Fred-Coyle-Geekie line becomes a true shutdown line, and Poitras could explode playing with skill players.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Trmaus12</b></div><div>Debrusk is worth 4mil and not 6mil, if he wants that much we need to let him walk. Debrusk needs a good linemate to produce so I don't consider him a true top-6 forward.</div></div>

I understand your logic for sure. Again, in this scenario, signing Lindholm means not enough cap space for Heinen and having Heinen and DeBrusk is a better team than one with just Lindholm in my opinion. Heinen is a strong bottom six forward.

Three Way Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>I don’t believe he is a center. He is a poor fit defensively for the system as a center plus his face off numbers are weaker than id like for a conversion candidate. If they are paying him this salary and putting him on powerplay 1, I doubt he will have an issue playing RW.
I would sign Lindholm over DeBrusk if we acquire Necas. I’m not sure Heinen gets 2.5m on the open market, but he’s played well this year.</div></div>
Couldn’t Zacha just take faceoffs and move to LW in play? Defensively he’s a poor fit but offensively he’s a terrific fit. I want the Bruins to remain a defensive minded team, but they also need to be able to score goals. I would take DeBrusk at $5-6M over Lindholm at $7-8M and have the cap to resign Heinen. So DeBrusk and Heinen together > Lindholm for me.

Also, I think Boston needs to add Lysell and atleast a 2026 second to make it interesting for Carolina.</div></div>
That’s fine. In any event, I do think Necas is the type of dynamic talent they need up front. I would prefer Necas over guys like Lindholm and Stephenson because of his age and his speed and because I don’t think he’s reached his ceiling yet. His ceiling playing with Pastrnak would be very high.

I agree the Bruins need more shots from the point. Lohrei made a huge difference in the top four and starting tilting the ice. I would still prefer Batherson (if that is even possible) because I don't like the idea of resigning Chychrun at $6m per year after the season.

Stephenson and Chychrun and Necas
Coyle is a third line center. Stephenson is a second line center. Fourth line wingers are the slowest duo in the league. Heinen and Boqvist would be much better options. Defense looks phenomenal even though I am not the biggest fan of Chychrun and think he's generally overrated.

Karlsson, Toffoli, and Forsberg. Three guys that do not move the needle at all that cost $13m combined. Toffoli and Karlsson on three year deals in their 30s. Toffoli is already old and slow. I'd rather keep that cap space even if there is 1% chance the Bruins could sign Draisaitl as a UFA.

1 potential look
Sweeney mentioned in his press conference that the team needs to add speed. Adding Toffoli and keeping Brazeau in the starting lineup does the opposite of that. I like Brazeau as the 13th or 14th forward. Heinen gets over $2m. I don't want Eckman-Larsson.

Realistic if we are aggressive for top 6
I see so many Bruins fans putting Poitras on the third line with grinders Frederic and Geekie. Why not put Poitras with wingers that actually have above average puck skills? Ullmark is gone. Sweeney is using the tandem talk as leverage. Whoever loses out on Markstrom or Saros will be begging to trade for Ullmark, unless they want their goalies to have a sv % below .900.

I would love Couturier as a fit on the Bruins - but not sure the Bruins should take on that terrible contract (even retained). He has six years left. Sign him for cheap once he's bought out. The Bruins don't want unmovable contracts on their roster.

I would rather have Stamkos at $8m++ for three years than Lindholm for six years. I'd rather have DeBrusk over Bertuzzi but DeBrusk might walk. Maroon is not a starter anymore. 13th forward at best. Forget Brendan Dillon, he's old and slow. I want Heinen resigned. I like Holtz.

Draisaitl Fever Dream
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Draisaitl isn’t a rental. Anyone that acquires him will require an extension because of the assets that Edmonton is going to require to trade one of the best players in the league.
We aren’t getting him for Ullmark and the collection of third liners plus picks.
In reality, Edmonton isn’t trading him unless he explicitly tells them he isn’t coming back because he doesn’t want to play with McDavid.</div></div>
Ullmark is an elite goalie and Frederic/Geekie are both middle six players who can play C and wing and have great cap hits. Plus two first round picks that the Oilers could flip for more talent. Ullmark probably would not waive and perhaps this is not the best offer the Oilers would get, but Edmonton's team would look pretty balanced after this trade and would have two first round picks they could flip for more talent.

Coyle is a third line center and he should not be on the top line. Poitras is a top six player who should have Marchand on his wing. I love the Necas idea. He wants to play center. If he can't win faceoffs he can have Zacha take draws and play the middle. The point is - he's a playmaker. Would rather have DeBrusk at 5.5m then Lindholm over 7m.

Good analysis. I don't disagree. I think the Bruins want to be the best defensive team in the league and are willing to deal with Lindholm's limitations offensively. This roster construction would be very tough to score on.

DeBrusk at $6m would immediately look like the worst contract on the team. I like the player a lot. But I wouldn't get carried away. Anyways, in this roster build there is enough flexibility to retain DeBrusk at $6m and Lindholm at $8m if that's what it takes.
