Lysell will be a good player but the Bruins should take that deal.

Coyle is a third line center and he should not be on the top line. Poitras is a top six player who should have Marchand on his wing. I love the Necas idea. He wants to play center. If he can't win faceoffs he can have Zacha take draws and play the middle. The point is - he's a playmaker. Would rather have DeBrusk at 5.5m then Lindholm over 7m.

The UFA goalies are not good. It will be more of the same in net for Jersey if they go that route. That's fine for the Bruins. I am sure Colorado and a few other teams are looking to upgrade in net.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bast</b></div><div>Lindholm is a good player, but he can be pretty frustrating when he's not going offensively.
He does a lot of good things defensively to make up for it, but he still needs to be proped up by his linemates to be worth a $7.5-8M pricetag. I think BOS would regret that signing within 3-4 years.</div></div>
Good analysis. I don't disagree. I think the Bruins want to be the best defensive team in the league and are willing to deal with Lindholm's limitations offensively. This roster construction would be very tough to score on.

Signing Heinen should be a no brainer. at 5 on 5 he might have been their best forward in the playoffs.</div></div>
DeBrusk at $6m would immediately look like the worst contract on the team. I like the player a lot. But I wouldn't get carried away. Anyways, in this roster build there is enough flexibility to retain DeBrusk at $6m and Lindholm at $8m if that's what it takes.

I agree. But having Heinen and Geekie on a team's fourth line is also insanely good. So the Bruins would be rolling out four very good and balanced lines every game. Plus the defense and goaltending.

I cannot see him wanting to go to a “non competitive” team if his goal is to have postseason success. He has personal reasons for wanting to stay in New Jersey as well. We got his old teammate Erik Haula and Ullmark and Jesper Bratt share an agent (I think they’re close).
I cannot see Ullmark wanting to extend with a team like Ottawa (no offense) that hasn’t sniffed the playoffs in some time.</div></div>
No I would imagine that all seven Canadian teams are off the table, and probably several of the coastal teams like SJ, LAK, VAN, ANA, etc.
I would imagine teams like PHI, PIT, COL, BUF are the other teams interested in Ullmark. I think NJ is definitely the best match, and I do think the Bruins would be happy to just get the 2025 first round pick. Will there be a sweetener? Could go either way.

I think you’ll find that part hard to get around. Any team that wants to be competitive has likely spent several trade deadlines trading away draft picks, they don’t have that many left.</div></div>
There are also non-competitive teams that think they can be. I assume Ullmark will be traded with an extension in place. Teams with young cores are looking at this two years from now saying they could have an elite goaltender locked up with a young talented team in front of Ullmark.

I know the bruins have to move off of Ullmark to upgrade their center depth. I know the bruins have to trade him. Regardless of how good he is, he is a cap dump. At this point, all any team acquiring Ullmark has to be is the highest bidder.</div></div>
Every team interested in Ullmark is willing to give a first round pick. That is his value. The winner of the Ullmark sweepstakes will be willing to throw in a sweetener to get an elite goaltender on a terrific $5m cap hit for the season.

Young Scoring Line
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>beantownboy17</b></div><div>I think the overall goal is to get Poitras into the top 6, but I don't think he has the ceiling to jump right in with Pasta. A 3rd line of Freddy- Coyle- Geekie would be big and with a decent balance of scoring and two way play. Sign a 1C to play between Pasta and Zacha, pair Marchy with Poitras and sign a scoring winger. Then when they want to play Lysell, move Pasta down to give Poitras some time with him and let Lysell prove himself on the top line. The issue with the Bs is scoring talent, so they'll slot in wherever they can once they're on the team.</div></div>
I would love if they put Poitras and Marchand together. For some reason I don't think they would do that. Would I do that? Absolutely. That is also a small line with those two together though.

Not sure that adding old and slow players like Toffoli and Dillon makes the Bruins better. That $9 million could be better spent. I liked those guys for this team maybe three or four years ago.

Well the Bruins also need scoring. I don't think putting Frederic and Geekie on Poitras' line is ideal either.
I think Lysell gets a chance this year to give the team another forward on an ELC but I don't know where he fits in the lineup. He is not a fourth liner. Pastrnak is RW1. That leaves RW with either Coyle or Poitras. Coyle is a good two way forward but is not much of a playmaker.

Fair enough. I just think the goalie market is barren right now, and Ullmark will generate somewhat of a bidding war between two or three teams. I think the Devils would rather have Ullmark on their team signed to an extension rather than Holtz next year. The 1st round pick is the starting point in any deal for Ullmark.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jpetes250</b></div><div>Heinen and DeBrusk walk. Maroon comes back
Sweeney is likely going to leave a middle six spot up for grabs for either Lysell or Merkulov. You can't keep Lysell down another year. Therefore, the Mantha signing doesn't happen.
I think they find a vet 6/7 D with size. Wotherspoon plays the early days Connor Clifton role.
Not Sold on Necas, I think if you do get him, Carolina is going to end up with Ullmark.
Poitras stays on the 3rd line most likely unless he makes a big jump.
Even if JDB comes back. You need another impactful scoring forward. Maybe you find that in Lysell, but I think you need to bump Zacha down to the 3rd line ideally.</div></div>
Good analysis. If JDB and Heinen walk, they have the space for another forward. As a Bruins fan, I am rooting for Lysell to make the team out of camp. Not sure if the organization likes him as much as the fans do.
