Description
After Ullmark is traded during the 2024 draft, Boston revisits an offer for Jake DeBrusk that he agrees to and then signs both Elias Lindholm (to a salary higher than most expect) and Jake DeBrusk.

They give Lysell a chance in the top 6, while surrounding Poitras with talent.

Pleasure doing business. Just for you I’ll keep the pointless haggling to a minimum and won’t ask for my king Jesper Boqvist back

I don’t think Debrusk is coming back.

Don’t see any scenario in which they re-sign Forbort.

Might as well trade Bussi & Merk if they are not getting the opportunity

Feel free to add one of your goalies for him (Daws or Schmid). We can easily use him as a backup to DIpietro in Providence/insurance policy.

Keep of F’ing that up. I put Driedger in to measure salaries and then forget to swap him with Bussi.

No need to trade Merkulov. First guy up from Providence and probably gets a shot at some time

I can see Forbort on a one year contract. He’s disliked by the fan base, but both Monty and Sweeney like him if he’s available later in free agency

With regards to DeBrusk, my “hope” is the path to sign him is led by a Ullmark trade so they can redistribute cap. I don’t see them making him a viable offer because they are targeting Lindholm

Yup and we have two slots in Maine as well. My assumption is Dyck is going there.

Bish is going there. The game plan was Dyck to Prov. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have a hard time believing they don’t acquire a vet goalie to push Bussi and likely go down to Providence. Dyck probably warrants extended minutes rather than backup ones

Why would Ullmark get traded at 2024 draft if there are only 2025 picks involved?

If Boston wanted to grant permission for another team to talk extension with him, that would be filed with league…and done when his window opens up on July 1st. Selling him a few days before likely limits the market (some may not bid without extension agreed to).

Very hard to see Boston moving Ullmark before (a) Swayman extension is done and (2) before July 1, 2025.

They certainly could. But Bussi and DiPietro can push each other, both are no longer waiver exempt, same age as Swayman, nothing left to prove at AHL. They will not re-sign Keyser as there is no room for him. Bringing in another goalie to an already crowded net likely mean one of Bussi/DiPietro gets moved if not claimed.

Also…didn’t Ullmark block a trade to New Jersey? So it’s all probably moot. Send him to LAK or Ottawa.

Realistic and good team. Lindholm at 8.25M just does not seem worth it to me. He may very well get that much money, but I wouldn’t go that high for a 2C at best who is probably past his prime.

That seemed like just speculation from an Ottawa reporter, but could be true. We’ll have to wait and see

Some Bruins fans seemed to think it was true. Would also explain why there has been very little (if anything) in the rumor mill about NJD-BOS linking up on a trade. One would think the two teams would be (or should be) talking…but both a very quiet organizations. Not likely to hear much before deal goes down.

So who knows?

My assumption is DiPietro won’t get claimed. He signed a contract that pays him more money in Providence, so I believe he knows where he is at in the pecking order. With the current roster, my assumption is Bussi is carried as a 3rd goalie. The open question is whether the Bruins just go with Bussi if he is traded.

In this case, it is used to create a window to sign DeBrusk before free agency which is more my hope. Also with Jersey’s current history of teams “reneging on deals”, it seems like something they would likely get done sooner. I also think if Boston gets a 2024 first rounder offer, they take it over this deal.

Swayman’s leverage is unimpacted by whether Ullmark is on the team or not.

The guy I saw matching up with Draisaitl wasn’t past his prime. Frankly. It made me see that this years struggles probably had more to do with family uncertainty than skill level deterioration.

Yeah it seems like it may just have been either speculation or him misremembering. Bc I doubt a scoop like that would come from an Ottawa reporter in a random article and nowhere else. Same with the Kypreos article where it seemed like he said Markstrom refused to waive for LAK.

“A league executive said Thursday he believes the Senators would likely have to offer defenceman Jakob Chychrun along with a first-round pick and another selection to acquire Ullmark. Even then, he has the hammer because he does have the modified no-trade clause.”

The original version of this has the comment about him rejecting a deal to NJ after the modified no-trade clause comment. I think it was an error unless he’s scared of that NJD defense corp. On a side note, did he get that league executive after a few beers?

Garrioch: Senators likely will take another run at Boston's Linus Ullmark in the off-season

"The Senators, Los Angeles Kings and New Jersey Devils were among several teams that made a push for the 30-year-old Ullmark before the deadline. The indications are Ullmark refused to change his 15-team no trade list, which meant a possible deal to the Devils was scuttled."

Its still up there...and was talked about on Jeff Marek show recently.

Thanks. I missed that.

It’s not like he has a complete NMC. I’d be stunned if NJ was on his list after two years ago, but I don’t know when he can change things up.

He seemed to be putting a priority on travel ease and time zone plus winning. NJD would seem to fit most of his prerequisites. I can’t come up with a viable 16 team no trade list that doesn’t include them on the pro list without conceding west coast markets and some flat out horrific teams.

He’s been coy about his list. My guess is the only people that know are his family, his agent, and maybe Jeremy Swayman. Those guys are super close. Like the others father visiting them in the offseason.

NTC lists are updated on July 1st. So whoever was on his list the first week of March would still be on his list until 7/1/25

At the very minimum, that comment seems speculative. Then again, I think everybody and their mother can see why an Ullmark trade to NJ should be an easy trade to get done.

I think it’s going to be Carolina or he stays in Boston with the Devils overpaying for Markstrom.
