$500k to $1 million short on Lindholm and DeBrusk. I wouldn't keep Heinen around for $2.5 million to play on the 4th line. Money could be better spent elsewhere. Why only go 7yrs on Swayman? Why not go 8yrs since you have the ability to?

you think theres a chance debrusk gets $6.5? I thought that offer was heavy.
Signing Heinen should be a no brainer. at 5 on 5 he might have been their best forward in the playoffs.

Why does NJ give up a first for a rental? There are so few teams on Ullmark's trade list than can afford him ,without sending money back, Bruins have little leverage in trade negotiations. And the Bruins didn't help themselves by not playing Ullmark much in he playoffs.

I assume Ullmark is traded with an extension in place.

I agree. But having Heinen and Geekie on a team's fourth line is also insanely good. So the Bruins would be rolling out four very good and balanced lines every game. Plus the defense and goaltending.

Lindholm is a good player, but he can be pretty frustrating when he's not going offensively.

He does a lot of good things defensively to make up for it, but he still needs to be proped up by his linemates to be worth a $7.5-8M pricetag. I think BOS would regret that signing within 3-4 years.

DeBrusk at $6m would immediately look like the worst contract on the team. I like the player a lot. But I wouldn't get carried away. Anyways, in this roster build there is enough flexibility to retain DeBrusk at $6m and Lindholm at $8m if that's what it takes.

in fairness, they don't really have any bad contracts.

I think 5x5 is fair for him.

Good analysis. I don't disagree. I think the Bruins want to be the best defensive team in the league and are willing to deal with Lindholm's limitations offensively. This roster construction would be very tough to score on.

There are few trades made with extensions in place. Really what's in for Jersey. They either sign a short term or even long term UFA goalie and not give up a first.

The UFA goalies are not good. It will be more of the same in net for Jersey if they go that route. That's fine for the Bruins. I am sure Colorado and a few other teams are looking to upgrade in net.

That's fair, but 2 years ago he had a pretty tough series against EDM. Before that he was pretty average (defensively) in the playoffs. Moreover, the Backlund line always got the toughest matchups in CGY.

He's doing well so far this year, but he's far from Bergeron/Barkov level defensively, so buyer be aware.

And Boston was one of the weaker teams in this year's playoffs as a result lol. They should've went after Hertl

no. Hertl isn't close to a 1C and his contract stinks. Lindholm is an upgrade, that's the point.

It's finding a team that would be on Ullmark trade list that has cap that is the issue.

Not sure if inevitable is the right word. I would suspect a bidding war for his services and Sweeney will look elsewhere if the price is too high. Sean Monahan had a 60 point season, was over 54% on the dot, could slot well between Pasta and Zacha and would cost less!

I don't think anyone expects Bergeron/Barkov level defense from him, but I think Couturier level is absolutely within his potential. He'll be a selke finalist next year if he's on Boston. I think Columbus is going to take a big swing for him too

Yes I think there's a team out there that would go $6.5 on DeBrusk. The FWD group of FA isn't exactly amazing this year. DeBrusk could easily be a guy team overpay after missing out on a top FA forward like Reinhart of Guentzel.

I think we saw with Pavel Zacha that he’s better suited for the wing where he isn’t overthinking his defensive role. Lindholm is a solid 2C for a team that should increase his productivity playing with Pastrnak who is a cheat code.

An overpay has some danger as does depending on Matthew Poitras to play against teams best players. The development curve would be much better suited as a 3rd line player.

While I love how Heinen has looked in the Boston system, I’m curious what people think his salary would be. Open to him, but think 2.5 may be rich

There are a lot of teams over 12m with 6 slots or less.

https://puckpedia.com/teams?s=2024-2025

Feel like we are at stage where I think there will be a few contracts that might be higher than anticipated,
