We traded our high picks in 2022 and 2023, so I doubt it's available. Especially not for that package.

Marchenko would be a sure thing. Whoever is picked is likely at least 1 more like 2 years away from impacting the roster. This would be a win now type of trade.

Doubt it. I bet they draft a defensemen. They are pretty good on forwards right now.

No this is a strong draft, with a lot of very good defensemen available in it, especially on the RHD side of the rink. Marchenko is solid but projected more for a 2nd line. Ottawa passes, especially when they will land a talent that will produce like Marchenko but at ELC wage for 3 seasons if they select a forward.... Celebrini, Levshunov, Demidov, Lindstrom, Eiserman, Parekh, & Dickenson would be just to inticing to draft. Ottawa definitely passes.

Yeah we said the same thing with Debrincat and Chychrun and look how that turned out. I would rather have the high pick. I like Marchenko but I highly doubt his value is a top 8 pick..

Ottawa absolutely isn't doing this lol. Marchenko is good, but Ottawa's not leaving that kind of upside on the table. There are players at 8th who are absolutely gonna be far better than him, in my opinion. I don't see how it makes any sense for Ottawa to pass on someone like Yakemchuk or Parekh for a winger of Marchenko's level.

I love Marchenko, but I have to agree with the others. If he's a top-line winger in this career, that's fantastic, but he's more likely a good goal-scoring 2nd-liner, and that's not someone you move a top-10 pick for.

No this is our chance to draft a RD thru the draft. Unless you’re willing to give up Jiricek, the Sens don’t answer the phone call

Guys I don't want to move for an asset we have virtually no chance at getting. Put me in a box, why don't you...

For context, this is if the new GM decides to do a rebuild. But Sens fans, what would you give up realistically for Marchenko?

Honestly...flipping the board is highly doubtful. Columbus survives by the gate and I am sure ownership group would rather have a competitive, even if its not cup worthy team, than waste another 3-4 years rebuilding off a rebuild similar to what Buffalo just did (and likewise getting killed by the gate). STH retention is being saved by outdoor game this year but during the 25-26 season if we don't start winning there might be a drop off of that all important full price STH cash. No...if anything they will press to have a competent team in the next year or two that would sneak into a wildcard than go through what Buffalo has been doing.

Likewise though I don't see a new GM flipping the board because (how I see it) we hold 4 of the 5 "keys" to win the cup (we are missing that strong 2C which is why if we get Celebrini that's gonna be MASSIVE). The issue really is we have some redundancy in player roles and we just need to let the kids cook. People forget that most players who can immediately impact the NFL are 22-23 years old when they are drafted...here most of our premium players can't even drink (and have many calling them a bust because they are boys against men)

The argument against this is that the CBJ have an already deep prospect pool but may be 2 yrs of a rebuild could pay dividends and allow this team to be restructured in a way that would allow us to sustain a long cup run window.

The "there's always next year" of prospect watching. That's even more of a loser mindset than Cleveland sports fans lamenting two games into a season--at least Browns fans are talking about the playoffs.
