I think detroit would have to add to holl in that, purely because he's signed for longer and Montreal don't have a need for him. Armia has been quite good this season, maybe that brief stint in the AHL fired him up because he's been way better than he has been since signing that contract. Still not worth the salary but he's more valuable to Montreal than Holl because we need NHL forwards more than defensemen, and the shorter deal would open up money sooner, and the cap flexibility that comes with Armia a year sooner than Holl is probably the most valuable asset in the deal

I’m personally not interested in the extra year on Holl.

I also wouldn’t be opposed to MTL re-signing Armia at like 2x 1.25M. Short-sighted, probably, but he’s having a good year.

I'm not sure there's any way to even out an Armia and Holl swap that would make both sides happy given that Armia's contract expires next season and Montreal doesn't have room for Holl.

The only thing that wpuld interest the habs in that situation is if assuming detroit picks before 20 they swap the det first for the wpg 1st.

Thats about it.

Some team might give up a pick for Fabbri but it won't be the Hawks

Don't see Detroit going and spending big on a goalie. With that defense infront of him, I don't think Jarry fairs much better.
I don't hate the idea of Smith but rather target other forwards.
Don't see any team taking Holl right now.

CHI has zero interest in Fabbri. If DET doesn't have any takers and they need cap space, they can pay us for it.

By now it has to be pretty clear why Rust won't be going to Detroit.

Detroit would be moving Holl for cap space and Armia has the same cap hit. Armia does have one season less than Holl on his contract, but that doesn't help because we need the space now not next season. Even though Holl has been less than stellar they need an RHD a whole lot more than a 30yr old 4th line winger.

Now I agree Chicago might not be the best spot for Fabbri, but referring to him as a cap dump is kind of silly when he is out producing over 80% percent of you team.

Well, he is a cap dump TOO CHI. Meaning they should be a last resort of "we need to create cap space quickly" type of scenario. So, I don't think it's silly at all. All that matters is what he is to DET. And what it seems like he is to DET, is someone they want off the roster and off the books to make space for players that can actually help them. What he is to CHI is a Detroit Redwing that they have no interest in, in the short or long term picture. What are they gonna do? Pay a 6th for him, plus pay his salary, all just to MAYBE find a buyer at the deadline and, with retention, MAYBE get a 3rd back for him... The salary and cap hit alone are worth more than the difference in value between a 6th and a 3rd.

It also isn't silly because CHI is not a team that is buying any time soon. They are building from within and they are open to helping teams with their cap and roster issues, as long as they are compensated properly. He certainly wouldn't be part of their future plans, and it is highly unlikely the would be able to flip him because he can't stay healthy and he is not someone who is going to come into a depleted roster like CHI's and create offense. He would probably have half the production he currently does with DET, maybe even less. Fabbri also isn't a locker room guy or a leadership guy that brings intangible qualities that might be of value to a rebuilding team, and I doubt he has any interest in being in that role, either.

So, if DET wants him gone and they can't find any takers, they can pay CHI to take him. Otherwise, there is no reason for CHI to have interest in him, CHI has plenty of ways to add to their roster and cap structure. If DET wants a return for him, CHI just isn't the team.

Jarry trade is a joke. Need a first, a young NHL forward and a top prospect for jarry. That’s for starters.

If you want smith with retained you’ll have to pay more than a third
