Moves that could make sense for Calgary
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>He's a 23 year old 5'11 3rd pairing LHD on a bad team. I really don't know what to tell you.
You can nitpick whatever you like.
A team not trying to win games has more ice time to give out than a team trying to win games.
On a team in the playoff hunt last year, and even this year, guys like Harris, Barron, and Xhekaj would have been/be healthy scratches, in the AHL, or playing 13 minutes a night.</div></div>
Last time i checked new jersey is tied with montreal so by your logic seigenthaler today is negative value asset given he is older and making 3.4 million and today isnt playing a mterially bigger role than harris is.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Harris is 5th on the team in TOI among dmen. He was 5th last year as well.
He's very clearly the 3LD behind Matheson and Guhle.
And he doesn't play against top competition very often.
Guhle, Savard, Edmundson, and Matheson tanked the tough minutes last year. Xhekaj, Barron, and Harris took the easy ones
Now this year Guhle, Savard (when he was healthy), Kovacevic, and Matheson are tanking the tough minutes.</div></div>
He is 4th es atoi this year and last thats top 4 genius.
And he plays RD as well which ypu would know if you actually knew anything about harris.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>He had 97 career games leading up to the trade
Harris has 91.
The caps had 7 quality veteran defenders and so weren't focused on developing a young guy.
Carlson, Chara, Jensen, TVR, Orlov, Schultz, Dillon.</div></div>
Harris isnt getting healthy scratched for MONTHS on end like Seigenthaler was. Guys getting healthy scratched have depressed trade value.
Theres 0 chance the habs wpuld take a 3rd. Not even halfway there

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Outdated stats, which wouldn't be relevant for a veteran but that's from february. so it includes only the 47 games he played up that point in 22-23. Meaning it ignores half of his career.
If you want to cite Jfresh cards you're more than welcome to.
Overall last year+this year he's in the 71st%ile xGoal wise, overall 77th%ile in proj war.
Good PK, solid offense, average defense. Small, sheltered sample size
Siegs in 18-19 was in the 80th proj war%ile
He was in the 88th%ile offensively, 97th%ile defensively (his finishing and penalty differential weighed him down a tad)
Then in a larger sample in 19-20, siegs was even better, finishing in the 90th%ile in proj war.
50% offensively, 97% defensively, and a quality PK guy.
Like I said, Siegs underlyings were FANTASTIC.
so, 2 guys with good underlyings, 23 years old, sheltered role+small sample size. Both being pushed out of a team for different reasons. Comparable</div></div>
Harris isnt playing a sheltered role hes played top 4 minutes most of the last 2 seasons

Going back 1 full year to the trade he had played 7 total games.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Siegentaler had fantastic underlying numbers, much better than Harris.
Harris is playing 3rd pairing on a bad team.
There were 3 quality vets ahead of siegs on a team trying to compete, which pushed him out.
There are 2 quality guys ahead of Harris, an enforcer who the team needs a spot for, and a top prospect next year coming, leading to him being pushed out</div></div>

Ya you are absolutely clueless. Harris had excellent underlying numbers than seigenthaler in a much bigger role

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>No space in Montreal. Comparable here is the Siegenthaler deal. A deadline/in season deal for a 23 year old LD with good analytics but no real oppurtunity.
With calgary moving 3 dmen, they have an opportunity to get Bahl/Harris quality minutes and try and develop a long term option/create more trade value for them</div></div>
Not remotely a comparable.
Seigenthaler was a healthy scratch for 2 months prior to being traded at the deadline and barely played when he did get in.
Harris has been playing 2nd pair minutes with excellent underlying numbers

Maybe I’m being too flippant with the third and a good prospect as being value, but I certainly hope my team doesn’t trade a first or an A prospect for him.
Do you think Montreal is going to sign him to a long term contract? Great story , but do you want a long term contract next to Monahan’s name? You should if you view him as having that type of value .
Hes a great rental for a team with the discipline to not sign him long term. He’d be great on short term prove it contracts at a little higher dollar figure than a long term one. That probably does warrant a second round pick.</div></div>
Your own placement of him in the lineup should tell ypu how stupid your assertions are.
2nd lince centre rentals (which YOU put him as) are easy 1st + trades

You should keep him unless someone pays a reasonable amount.</div></div>

Your not even at the halfway point value wise of what the habs wpuld need to trade him.
He is eating big defensive minutes well, is right handed, big, and signed dirt cheap for more than this year.
They would need the equivalent of a late 1st early 2nd worth of value tp cpnsider moving him

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Rocket</b></div><div>Matheson has the same number of goals as Bouchard, nearly the same amount of shots, and the same amount of powerplay points. plays similar minutes as well. don't get me wrong, he is a downgrade, but not a huge downgrade.
in return, oilers add a quality starter for 500k cap hit, a 22 year old scoring at approx a p/g pace in the AHL (ignore podkolzin's draft position, evaluate him for what he is today and its a probable NHLer with middle 6 upside with team control) and the canucks top prospect.
beauvillier's 29 5v5 points last year would have been 2nd on the habs behind only suzuki. granted he has been snake bitten this year with a 5.41% shooting percentage and a 9.46% on-ice shooting percentage in all siuations. that's why i included a 4th to offset that.
meanwhile, montembeault and matheson, while good, aren't worth a ton on their own. matheson has almost a $5 million cap hit so nay trade involding him would require cap coming back. i think a 1st plus a B prospect is fair when you look at historical comparables on Dmen and Goalies. especially since the 1st has 0 protection</div></div>
The dont want him. They have 8 wingers signed past this year.
The habs dont need or want to trade matheson. He is the only letter wearer who speaks French. He is 16th among dmen in points and 8th in atoi. 2 1sts+ for the habs to consider.
Your offer isnt close

Guhle reinbacher huston matheson and thats before you get to barron who looks as good as him at his age and konyushkov one of the best dmen in the khl, engstrom #1dman for sweeden at the wjc.

The peak of the buyout is 3.8 million on Campbell (I believe) and it's for one year. You go through 1-2 years of annoying dead cap to gain a significant piece for the d-core.</div></div>
Bouchard is 24 and has never broken 45 points dont give me this 60-70 point bull. And he straight up cant defend at 24 years old. Theres a reason why the oilers did t sign him long term this summer.
He wouldnt be in the habs top 4 by the time they are ready to contend we have better options
