Developing depth and a lottery win

Description
Going into year 3 of the rebuild should be about building winning habits and utilizing cap space for depth so as not to experience a AHL level roster like this team had at times this season. The trick may be to overpay guys to such a degree that they get through waivers, and or acquire players that are NHL level that fit that standard.

Vlasic contract is self explanatory. He’s this gen’s Seabs

Kurashev would be eligible to extend during this season, I see him as a 3rd liner when the hawks are good again, perhaps as a Kuntiz was to Crosby type of player. I wonder who would say no to a 8 year 4AAV extension next summer.

Zaitsev has been serviceable this year, as a 6/7/8D I don’t mind bringing him back.

Raddysh doesn’t deserve anywhere near 3 million, but it may be worth keeping him as depth and I think 3 million would be where all other NHL teams so no thanks if he were put on waivers.

Hawks giving Kaiser and EDM a look helps Davidson make a decision on all of the players.

Détails additionnels:
If the Canadians are looking for cap flexibility, this is one route. Assuming there is not interest around the league for neutral/positive value Chicago can take on this contract to upgrade a draft pick and retain depth in the AHL in case of an injury.

Montreal would have to be adding about $15M before they even get close to needing to move cap. I don't see it happening this off-season.
If we did, it would be about freeing roster space, not cap, in which case we can simply waive.

This isn’t a playoff roster so why spend to the cap like it is one?

Habs don't need cap space and Dvorak isn't a cap dump anyway, he has positive value around the league no matter what fans on here think

Take out the 4th coming back & the Hawks might consider taking on Dovark. Some Habs fans might not see him as a dump but he has only played in 89 games the last 2 seasons & only managed 35 points in those games. That is not enough production for 4.5 mil.

I would love for Stamkos to come on that contract. I just don't see it though. He wants to win and were still developing.

Even then, the habs have no reason to trade him. He's UFA next summer and we won't need the cap space next year.

we need cap space as much as the hawks does. its makes as much sense as the hawks dumping athanasiou for a second to Mtl.

I completely see your side , that the Habs don’t need to dump him. Do you see the Hawks side? He hasn’t done anything in 2 years to warrant a return for taking him on.

MTL may not NEED to dump cap, but claiming Dvorak has positive value is laughable. No one is paying for him.

the hawks is that they wont receive anything from the habs because they wont want to pay anything to dump him, because they have no reasons to. Like i said, i can also make a post about hawks dumping their players to the habs for a hefty prices, but it wont make sense to your team. so for dvorak, he is probably just a habs next year and traded at the deadline.

Why on earth would Montreal need even more cap flexibility?

And no one is paying for Athanasiou, but the idea that Chicago would pay to move him is laughable. Same with Montreal and Dvorak.

As a Habs fan, I don't really thinks he haves a positive value, especially because of his injuries issues.
