I’m not convinced how much better he makes the Hawks. He’s not top 6 material . Hawks should make better use of the ice time he would need to produce.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>I get it. But, imagine what a hard working 2-way 40 point rental retained even further at a $1.25M cap hit could fetch at next years deadline. I'm not necessarily saying CHI shouldn't be asking for that 4th to be going the other way, but man... if he were to have a decent and healthy season in CHI, that could possibly mean more valuable assets for the rebuild. I don't hate it.
BUT, I also don't get what exactly is in it for PIT if they aren't moving the full cap hit. They are gonna need every bit of cap space they can get, if they want to make REAL additions and ice a contender next year. If not, what is the point of moving anyone? This might just be my opinion, but PIT is either trying to contend or they aren't, they'll need to pick a lane and go all in. Otherwise they are just doing things for the optics and PR.</div></div>
I hear you & I’m not saying it is completely out of the realm of possibilities. However the rationale of grab this guy & flip him later for more is used to excess on this site . Ultimately for it to work you have to give the player enough ice time to be able to hit the desired levels. This limits the amount of ice time the team has to devote to the delopment of younger players. Hoarding picks is not a bad idea but it is important to develop the players you draft. Since Davidson didn’t really flip anyone this year, I don’t like the odds of him doing so next year. Hawks don’t need any help in the bottom 6. It is arguable if the need help in the middle 6 or not. They definitely need a lot of help in the top 6. I don’t see Reilly has the best option to help in the top 6, but that’s just my opinion.

You want Raddysh, he will likely be available in free agency. Hawks are not paying for Reilly. The question is: how much would they need to get paid to take him.

Tanev is going to be a busy boy seeing as how all 32 teams are going to be signing him next year according to the fans on this site.
Even if Jackets decided to sell low on Laine, I’m not sure it would be the best decision.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>you just don't seem to get it. They don't want a guy to put up 40 points. They want an expiring contract they can flip for an asset.
You can't get that in FA. Those people want term.
It's not about "building" the team. It's about flip for value. Can he get more than what he puts in...great. Done.
You over here acting like he's taking in a cap dump. He's not. He's taking a player come trade deadline other teams are going to want at the right price. CHI will be more than happy to make that more....for the right price. But they need those players to flip first. As they don't really have any. No one is going to go after Donato or AA at TDL. AA don't play defense an Donato is a 3rd liner at best. But Smith is a guy who teams look at as being responsible, with a offensive touch who can play some gritty minutes and help win games up and down the lineup. That's someone you can flip.</div></div>
Hahahaha. You are so wrong. You don’t have a clue. But free country’s & all that, enjoy your opinion.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>CHI took Halls 12 mil cap dump for FA rights to Nick F. and you think the pens are giving you anything to take Smith.
While CHI might not take him for more than they can flip him for at TDL, they sure aren't getting paid to take him.
Maybe the Pens get a 4th back.... if CHI thinks he cap be flipped at TDL for a 3rd or 2nd.</div></div>
Hey man you got your opinion & that’s cool, but if you think Davidson is paying anything for him you’re not paying attention to how he operates. He gave up 2 AHL caliber d-men to get Hall & Foligno. He can go to free agency & pay a lot less to get someone to put up 40 points while not giving up assets if he wants.

The value is not off but at 29 years old Kerfoot is just a roster filler. Think Davidson would prefer a prospect gets the ice time not a player like Kerfoot.

Hawks wouldn’t send anything back for taking Holl’s contract off Yzermans hands. You are way off on the Campbell trade. Rather it makes sense to the Pens or not the Reilly trade isn’t all that attractive to the Hawks anyway. Jost is not a NHL caliber player, there are plenty of prospects that will be deserving of ice time in Rockford, so why sign him?

Just curious
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>I think we switch gears summer of 2025. Team should naturally improve a little bit going into next year, but hawks need to secure one more high lotto pick. If we snag one of Celebrini, Demidov, or Lindstrom this June and then another top 5-7 pick next year I'll be very good about this core personally</div></div>
As Tom Petty sang “the waiting is the hardest part”. Ultimately it all depends on how the players we’ve drafted develop. They all play like Vlasic , it will be sooner, they go like Reichel, it may be put off longer.

Kyle Davidson has showed this far no willingness to switch gears from using picks to build through the draft. He of course will at some point , when he feels confident that he has his nucleus in place. Nothing against Tkachuk, but the Hawks are a lot further away from competing than what he can bring, so the timing is not right to pull the trigger on this type of trade right now.

Canes fans can get ready for disappointment. They can want Nazar all day long, doesn’t mean they would get him.
Bottom line is Davidson is not forking that much to another team for anyone right now, he’s sticking to his game plan of rebuilding through the draft.

That is a very reasonable assumption. Assuming the Hawks are just going to fork him over to the Devils for so little not so much. He is contractually obligated to be a Hawk & he hasn’t done what Kane for example has for the Hawks to be throwing his weight around to go wherever he wants for next to nothing.

I don’t think Hardman would be hard to procure as he is likely not in any long term game plans but neither would any of the 3 you are proposing coming the other way. If you are truly interested in him you can probably get him in free agency but I think you’re just trying to dump Poolman , no thanks.

Next year
I don’t think it is very probable that Davidson signs any D in free agency. I think between giving Crevier , Kasier (off side) & possibly Allan (off side like in Seattle) looks on 3 rd pair he would be “comfortable with what he has”. Unless of course he is ready to move on from Murphy. Also, I think there will be multiple teams interested in Chatfield which would drive up his cost/term . RD is in demand by more teams than just the Hawks.
I could see Domi wanting to return, he definitely had a better year playing for Richardson last season than he’s had playing in TO this year, he might want to try an inflate his value again by getting more opportunities in Chicago next year & trying to cash in the following year. I’m not sure he is the first target the Hawks have but more than likely he is on the list.
