I hear you &amp; I’m not saying it is completely out of the realm of possibilities. However the rationale of grab this guy &amp; flip him later for more is used to excess on this site . Ultimately for it to work you have to give the player enough ice time to be able to hit the desired levels. This limits the amount of ice time the team has to devote to the delopment of younger players. Hoarding picks is not a bad idea but it is important to develop the players you draft. Since Davidson didn’t really flip anyone this year, I don’t like the odds of him doing so next year. Hawks don’t need any help in the bottom 6. It is arguable if the need help in the middle 6 or not. They definitely need a lot of help in the top 6. I don’t see Reilly has the best option to help in the top 6, but that’s just my opinion.

I don’t think it is very probable that Davidson signs any D in free agency. I think between giving Crevier , Kasier (off side) &amp; possibly Allan (off side like in Seattle) looks on 3 rd pair he would be “comfortable with what he has”. Unless of course he is ready to move on from Murphy. Also, I think there will be multiple teams interested in Chatfield which would drive up his cost/term . RD is in demand by more teams than just the Hawks.
I could see Domi wanting to return, he definitely had a better year playing for Richardson last season than he’s had playing in TO this year, he might want to try an inflate his value again by getting more opportunities in Chicago next year &amp; trying to cash in the following year. I’m not sure he is the first target the Hawks have but more than likely he is on the list.
