Hanifin's value is a 1st and a B/B+ prospect? Hard to tell what the market is for skaters this year. The Devils shouldn't be going after Hanifin right now imo, I think it's probably best to stand pat at the deadline due to the injuries and address the goaltending in the summer.

We're bleeding out on the left side so we're interested. As noted not as a rental, but I'd be OK with Hughes/Hanifin/Siegenthaler. Money has been discussed. We'd be at the max but doable. Not saying everyone would be happy with it.
There's no way you're getting better than a middle of the round 1st (currently), and Dawson Mercer.

If Hanifin came with 50% retention and agrees to $6.25m x 8 extension…maybe top-10 protected 1st plus Bahl is probably the limit for NJD. Cannot imagine this happens as it would be hard to guarantee an extension.

I think NJD would have a real interest in Hanifin and would send a competitive bid if they thought he may extend long-term. I doubt Mercer would be involved, but as I said above, I think Bahl + 1st could be possible.
