Players are both just to make the money work, they are both ufa and could both be flipped for lower picks especially with retention

Understandable but I do believe if they make it out of the first round they’ll be making it to the finals they’ll have to much excitement and momentum, the finals can go either way obviously, doesn’t really matter who we run into it’s a whole new animal with whole new pressures, no idea what would happen then

Really top 3? I think I’d have Askarov, UPL, Wallstedt,
Cossa, and Wolf ahead of him at least probably arguments to be made about others too, he’s good but even when buffalo traded Sam Reinhart for him I thought they should have gotten more

What will they do when fully healthy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RazWild</b></div><div>If, and only if, that were the case.
We already have 7 internal options on our own roster that can be moved around in order to fill in for the injury.
That's what I'm talking about when referring to our rosters flexibility and ability to play at all forward positions. Literally only FIVE players on our roster can't play the center position and are strictly wingers.
If our roster was that decimated by injuries then it's possible and likely Guerin would make a trade to bolster the roster. Until then, Guerin is only going to try and bring someone in if he can get that player at a significant discount.
In short, he ain't paying full price.</div></div>
Understandable, I do believe a late 2nd isn’t full price however, a late 1st at last years deadline or even this one wouldn’t be out of the question

What will they do when fully healthy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RazWild</b></div><div>Hartman, Eriksson-Ek, and Rossi. All three are either cheaper or downright better than Kerfoot, and are better options down the middle for Minnesota for those reasons.
Then we have Jost, Gaudreau, and Steel. All three of which can play center if needed or on the wing. And all of them cost less too, and I don't mean paid salary... which doesn't help the Wild one iota, but in terms of actual cap hit.
The Wild don't need Kerfoot because they're already built for flexibility with players who are just as good defensively or provide that niche at a lower cap hit cost and can be deployed up and down the lineup or at any forward positions as necessary.
Kerfoot may be a better player than what's on roster in certain spots and makes next to nothing in paid salary. But it still doesn't matter given how redundant he'd be with what we already have or his cost in cap AAV.</div></div>
What if any of those guys get injured? Kerfoot has played very well in a top 6 centre position when Matthews or Tavares are injured, id personally love to keep him he’s very clutch in those scenarios we just can’t afford him even after a trade and with only two spares we only have 700k

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Again though the Leafs have cap problems, so do so many other teams to absorb a 3.5m cap hit. And teams with cap have plenty of options on what teams they want to deal with. Kerfoot's trade value is probably "please take him" as the Leafs have serious cap issues. Certainly his "playing value" is much higher.</div></div>
Minnesota is really the only team that’s trying to contend that has the cap space to make this happen

4m would be fair but if he posts high 60s points again or low 70s, he will get 6+. (I don't agree he should but it would not surprise me)</div></div>
A full season with Matthew’s and marner he’s gonna be a point per game, 6M will be the hometown discount

I figure 7th overall is equal to two firsts and this contract helps them to the cap floor plus the young d could use a veteran presence

Hamonic for 750 at the deadline can at least get them a 3rd so that’s a 1st 2nd 3rd plus a good defence prospect while helping Arizona stay at the cap floor for this year and next and having a guy like zaitzev to eat the minutes you don’t want young guys to eat

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>I think the AZ deal is close. You'd probably need to swap out the 2nd's and give them yours, not WSH's. I think taking both Zaitzev and Hamonic even with the retention is going to require adding one more piece. maybe a mid-level prospect or a 3rd, but it's close.
I think the Rangers trade looks close, too. I think Boucher straight up for Nils is good. Holden doesn't really fit for NY.</div></div>
Just free depth basically and opens a roster spot for nils

Jake Muzzin doesn't waive for Chicago.
And at retaining $2,625,000 would cost at least a 3rd round pick not a 5th rounder.</div></div>
The amount of dollars he’s actually owed is far less

Just have to fill in what it would cost for Kane at 50% part.</div></div>
Muzzin still has some value though, he’s more here to make the money work plus it opens up a spot for sandin I think 2 firsts, abruzzese and a guy that can eat some tough minutes for the younger players who can also be flipped next year at the trade deadline for likely another 1st if 50% retained
