<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dtd_tank</b></div><div>Why wouldn't you just play Newhook there with some good supporting wingers while using your cap space to pay Burakovsky/Nichushkin and find a goalie like Jack Campbell?
Also, Landeskog could play 2C if Newhook isn't ready, couldn't he?</div></div>
What you do is play Landeskog on Newhook’s wing and let him shepherd Newhook like he did MacKinnon, basically playing the c role on defense. Burakovsky is out imo. COL top 6 wingers next year will probably be Mikko, Landeskog, Nichushkin and Lehkonen. Playing Lehkonen in the top 6 where he has looked really good allows the them to spend a little more in other areas.

Kadri leaves
The Avs aren’t trading for any of those guys for a number of reasons. 1) the assets to acquire them, 100% you are having to part with at a minimum Newhook, and multiple 1st rd picks and that probably just gets the conversation going. 2) how do they make the cap work? That like $30M to 4 forwards before you sign anybody or give MacKinnon an extension.

Seattle gets better
So COL trades a top D prospect and a 2nd for Lehkonen that is now killing it in COL and then they going to trade him for a late 2nd and send a 3rd. That’s just not realistic.

Whats the deal with Erik next year
There isn’t a planet that exists that COL does that. Let Meloche walk for free once, and EJ isn’t a cap dump. HARD NO.
And that Kadri contract is a boat anchor waiting to happen.

Hmm 20yr old stud already top 4 dman, and you think a pending RFA, 29yr old 2nd pairing guy and a menagerie of not high picks get it done? Yeah that get Colorado to laugh and hang up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>march63y</b></div><div>Hahaha your the one getting hurt. Avs would 100% take a straight swap between Smith and compher. Any team would take smith over compher. His freaking contract has ZERO ZERO impact on those contracts. Seriously 🤦🏻♂️

COL does that. If EDM thinks this is a sustainable model for success they are in trouble. McDavid is other worldly but the defense and goal tending is arguably lottery quality.

Won’t matter. Blues last game of the season. Blues outscored 14-7 5v5, scoring chances favor COL 60-40, and that includes STL getting 4 goals off of COL sticks and COL hitting 7 posts.

You don’t even know what you’re talking about. Compher only has one year left, he’s younger a known commodity and Just because some ACGM trade doesn’t mean ****. Smith is not a real option you just don’t like being challenged.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>Can Colorado really afford to keep him? Realistically they’re going to have to reshape the roster after this year. I would say two out of the three between Kadri, Burakovsky, and Nichushkin are gone, and they could afford to keep one. I don’t know who in the minor-league system is ready to make the jump to replace any of them except for maybe Martin Kaut.</div></div>
They have $24M in cap space. Might they trade Compher, but it won’t be for a package that doesn’t do anything for him because a guy that just scored 18 goals can play all 3 forward spots and play on special teams is something any team could use. Kaut is ready, Ben Meyers is a lock, Maltsev is ready, Ranta made the team out of camp this year, Bowers is ready but probably ends up playing in another organization, and the wild card is Olausson, could he make the jump to the NHL maybe. COL just needs to be careful not to get into a bad contract with their own UFA’s. Burakovsky is gone, unless he were to take a team friendly deal the scratch in the playoffs just shows where he is in the pecking order. Kadri unless he too is willing to take a bit of a hometown discount is likely gone, but none of this is a surprise to COL.

There actually isnt too many right handed middle6 in free agents this season. I can only think of jarnkrok. For 3.1 mil its actually a Good price if they get rid of compher</div></div>
Compher had 18 goals and 33 pts Smith 16 goals 36 pts COL knows what they have in him and his versatility, why trade assets for a guy that may just assume his role? Pass.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CakeEaterBanks</b></div><div>Manson will probably get 4-5 million on the open market.
EJ cap hit is 6 million. Kadri, Burakovsky, Nichuskin, Kuemper and more all need new deals and only 20 million to use. Kadri will probably get 7-8 million on the open market, both Nichuskin and Burakovsky are easily getting 4-5 million, and Kuemper is getting 5-6 million. There’s no money for depth at all on the roster unless someone like Johnson is moved.
Plus Mackinnon is a year away from UFA at the end of the season.</div></div>
Burakovsky is gone, Kadri is probably gone, Manson has already said he wants to re-sign. It’s $24M not $20M. COL isn’t trading for Holl ever. EJ’s contract AND Compher’s expire when MacK is do an extension.

If you were the TOR GM no one would take your calls. Why in the world would COL want an injured bad dman? I mean anybody can make bad trades that benefit their favorite team and say this is what I would do, the problem is nobody else would.

They can just do some douch bag Vegas style sh^# and sign for 3 and try and ditch em next summer.</div></div>
I think he is over a million off on Lehkonen around a million off on Nichushkin and as much as 1.5M on Kuemper. All 3 have comps Lehkonen w/Compher at $3.5M, Kuemper w/Markstrom and Binnington at$6M, and Nichushkin w/Coleman and Rust at $5M.

The Avs aren’t ever doing that trade. Trouba would be at best the Avs 4th best dman making $8M and the odds of COL ever wanting Nemeth back are akin to the Rangers having Boston Bruins appreciation night followed by them petitioning NYC to get D’Angelo the key to the city.
