Think about this for a second. Where does Tanner Pearson slide into Carolina roster? Over Svechnikov, Jarvis, Necas, Teravainen or Bunting? No. Over Fast or Martinook? Probably not. Over Noesen? I doubt it. So, he doesn't crack the main roster. At that cap hit, Lemieux is just better value for press box seats. No reason for Carolina to do this. The wings are where Carolina are deepest

Anaheims not moving Zegras unless a blue chip piece comes the other way, and there isn't one on that deal, and on top of that, were not taking Anderson's contract the other way.

If he'd been available for that cheap, he would have been traded already.

Why is Montreal adding to Anderson, who hits, to get Zegras? Shouldn’t the Ducks be adding? Carlsson maybe?

I was thinking about a deal similar to this earlier, anderson just being there to even out the money, but with rumors that Kent Hughes rejected a 1st+ for Anderson last year he could be flipped immediately if the ducks don't plan on keeping him. Everyone looks at his contract and says it awful (not arguing its good) but he's got the talent to be worth more $, just needs to work on consistency.

I think he was singed to that deal because the year before he had 27 goals and 47 points, the hope being that he blossomed into a perennial 25 goal scorer.

His best season since his signing has been 21 goals. There was a flash of talent there, but he doesn't produce enough to justify his contract. His analytics since singing have also been pretty brutal, so if those rumors are true, he should have taken the deal, since the offering GM would have come to regret that trade.

Either way, no blue chip piece, no deal for Zegras.

If Hughes turned down a 1+ for Anderson he should be fired for GM MALPRACTICE.
TB doesn't have the cap nor are they giving up Howard for Monahan.

To be fair, he has 7 goals in 41 games, while underperforming his xG by 6, if he could finish his chances better / have more luck he'd be on a 25 goal pace.

What people ignore is that he's a good player now, 5.5 mil worth, probably not but he's not useless either. With some better finishing/luck and some health he'd be a 25 goal 45 point player who's gonna play physical hockey. Just look at his last full season in Columbus, he's capable of that at least, maybe even more, but because his contract is so long everyone hates it. He's a physical player so if it comes necessary there's definitely a way to get him on LTIR but when he's healthy he's one of the best power-forwards in the game. Players like Josh Anderson aren't easy to find and i think thats why Bergevin gave him that contract.

He can't provide the most important ability and that's availability.

Played 69 games each of the past 2 years, 41 of 45 this year, thats 30 games missed over 3 season, not perfect but not many players play the full 82 anymore.

Tampa could make the cap work for Monahan with a couple of other small moves, but I doubt they are moving Howard for a rental forward.

Kent’s theorem…just feed the fanbase nonsense about all the trades you’ve rejected and they will believer they have value.
