Yeah I hear that. He also hasn’t shown much promise taking faceoffs. But I do like how he drives play and spreads the ice from the middle. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it’s him, but it doesn’t feel obvious to me

No I was just sticking to the ask if they all stayed in the middle. I think Gaucher is going to be a solid defensive #3C for Anaheim, and one of Z or McTavish shifts to the wing to play top 6 mins

Lol I hear you. If we see Henrique as capable of holding down a 2nd line winger role for the duration of his next contract and the salary is reasonable I’m game. But it feels wasteful to not get something for him on an expiring deal. And considering he’s already 33, I feel like he’ll be a bit old and his cap weighing on the team when we’re competing.

Vatrano is younger but I like him less than Henrique for sure

And edit: nobody will take Silf on that contract unfortunately.

Sure! And you could totally be right that he balances the line out better as a winger. I just felt like from what I’d seen, he seemed the best suited to be the one lining up against the McDavid’s of the world head to head as a shut down guy. And having Lunde on the same line would give ANA a capable face off man that’s both left and right handed either way

Totally possible. I figure one of Z or McTavish will have to shift to wing to accommodate Fantilli. Not sure who it’ll be, but hopefully we get a good head coach who’ll sort that out.

Lunde would do well as a 4th C, just don’t love the limited minutes he’d see as a 4th liner. Another good problem to have for a new bench boss to figure out

For sure. Just didn’t want to cloud the picture here by speculating on who those guys would be. Wanted to focus more on our current pipeline.

I just want us to wait on those veterans until we actually know what gaps we have unless someone amazing falls into our lap. I think we can be around where LA is now in 2 years with the right development and a few key signings

Imo he’s gonna have to be better on the wing or we trade him (which I think is more likely). Gaucher is a true defensive center (2nd best face off % and winner of the best defensive forward in the QMJHL) and has better size to frustrate top centers in the NHL

Comtois looked very good for the span he was on Zegras' wing on the 2nd line even if it wasn't on the score sheet, the opportunities were getting generated, but he has been on the coaches **** list this season. Would also like to see a coaching change before we release anyone.

I think I like the Maxes less than most. I held out for Comer for a long time, but I lost hope early this season. Jones seems to hurt his lines more than help, and takes too many trips to the box. I’d gladly swap either for someone that’s shown it when healthy as long as they’re young and can fit for the future

I would love to move Gibby. I think it’s in Gibby’s best interest to be traded to a contender. I’m a ducks fan and I agree that the desired price isn’t realistic right now. That said I think he can have a really good month and net a 1st at 50% retained to a playoff bound team. But as it stands he’s probably worth more along the lines of a 2nd and ‘meh’ prospect, or 3rd and good prospect

This would be a terrible TDL for Anaheim. Moving only one expiring contract, with multiple others on the books. And then needlessly moving Comtois for basically nothing.

If the purpose is to do ideal TDLs for other teams, you should research the other teams a bit more first. Start with Klingberg, Kulikov, Stolarz. And there’s zero incentive to move any RFA with upside for a return like that

Agreed. Comtois led us in scoring one year ago. Not worth moving him for this, and a big young left winger with a scoring touch is exactly what we need

I think the ‘definitely not’ went too far. But the biggest reason is the ducks thinnest position is LW when it comes to young talent and we have a ton at LD. We have Fowler at LD for 4 years, and then Mintyukov, Zellweger, and another like 3 solid D prospects behind them on the left side. If Sandin played RD, it’d be much more interesting.

Also, selling Comtois at an all time low in value when he led us in scoring just a year ago isn’t the move. I’d gladly trade for Sandin. But for me it’d be l more like a 2nd rounder or maybe Tracey/Pastujov and a pick

I’d honestly say more like a mid-1st. He’s panning out perfectly to what the hope/expectation was as a late 1st. So he’s basically a late 1st round pick with none of the risk that he doesn’t pan out. That’s worth more for sure
