Selling Tank at the deadline would make sense if they are still well out. Outside of that there is no point.
I would consider moving Brannstrom for a young forward also. Maybe a Brannstrom for Frost swap.

Kuzmenko is a stud. But his shooting percentage was 27% last year. Which is unheard of high. So 40 is very unrealistic for him. But still a good player. I like Kuzmenko a lot but I decline this if I am the Leafs.

Congratulations, you still miss the playoffs and now you have no first round picks for a century.
Calgary and Seattle both decline by the way. Lindholm deal is lacking. You may be able to get Hanifin for that though, if not, you are missing a 3rd or so.

Do either of the Mtl D have as much value as Zadorov? Separately, are either getting a 3rd and 5th? Not sure. A 1st seems like good value. Maybe an overpay?</div></div>
Montreal has no interest in moving either guy. So it would take an overpay for them to move them. Hence the 1st round pick :)
P.S Zero Montreal fans and Zero Toronto fans (outside of me) liked this trade haha.

Brodie and Tanev are extremely comparable dmen. Tanev is a right shot, so his value may be a touch higher, but barely. No point getting rid of Brodie, just to replace him with Tanev.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Nobody puts baby in the corner.
Hughes belongs in open ice.</div></div>
As good as Hughes is, baby gets put in a corner on Team USA until he can win a faceoff. You have too many good faceoff winning, 2 way centres on this roster to justify putting Hughes there. You just let Hughes go pure offense here and have fun. I know NJD fans all hate when I say this, and they claim that "faceoffs don't matter". But they do... They really do.
This is ZERO percent a slight on Hughes. Kid is a genuine super star stud. His possession numbers are amazing as well. But on a team this stacked, he gets sent to the wing until he cleans up his faceoff game.

To put it in perspective, most Leaf fans would rather give up our 2024 1st, than give Lily away. Of course there are some who disagree but most of us would prefer keeping Lily over our 1st.

I view Lily as a late 1st rounder. So late 1st rounder and 2 x 3rds for Larsson with 25% retention. Of course Seattle would need to really like Lily.

Whos the secondary defender
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>I think the accusation about Peeke not being able to break the lineup isn't accurate, the reality is they had 4 NHL defensemen on the right to start the year, then Jiricek pushed his way onto the roster. He's not top 4 by any belief, but he's an adequate bottom 4 shot blocker and hit thrower. Boqvist should really switch to wing at this point, the offense is there, always has been, but the guy never developed defensive awareness, but that makes him a somewhat natural Klingberg slot in.
All the guys you mentioned were LD, are you content to push McCabe to his off wing and hope for the best with Brodie McCabe Timmins as a right side if it means bringing in a true top 4 for the left?</div></div>
Tanev, Larsson, Walker are all Right Shot RD.
And we also have Lily on the right.

Whos the secondary defender
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>I mean, Tre shouldn't have sign Klingberg in the first place, it's been a serious stroke of luck for the organization (horrible luck for John) that he's done for the season. Dude should put a hit out on the agent who got him to turn down the 7.8x8 or whatever it was that Dallas offered him.
There's not a lot of RHD available or predicted as available. Maybe CBJ is willing to sell Boqvist and/or Peeke, but retention isn't like an option there. Los Angeles isn't selling anyone, and neither is NYR. Those are the three teams I know loaded up on RHD.</div></div>
I agree on you about Klingberg. I didn't love the signing. I was very happy it was only 1 year and I was hopeful it would be a worthwhile gamble. Peeke can't even crack Columbus D core and they are not a good team. He is signed 2.75 for several more years. NO thanks. Boqvist has a lot of potential but he is still solidifying himself in the NHL. Leafs don't need a project. We need a bonafide dman.
It's why Calgary keeps being brought up, because they are sitting on Tanev and Hanifin (LD) as pending UFA's. Larsson in Seattle could be an option for this year and next. Walker in Philly (or Seelers who is a LD though). But Philly is in the playoff hunt.
There are some options but we will see how it plays out!

I don't think I would pay more than a 3rd for Lyubuskin (retained). I really liked him with the Leafs and wanted him to get extended but 2.75m was too much for him. I thought Buffalo was a good fit for him when he signed there.
Was hoping the Leafs traded Holl and then signed Buch to a 2m x 2 year deal. Never happened!

I would go:
Hughes-Matthews-M Tkachuk as the top line. That line would be gross.
Crazy skill guy (potentially even generational skill guy), very big generational goal scoring centre, who is also very good defensively and one of the best power forwards we have seen in the past 20 years. That line would be unstoppable.

I still want to get 2 top 4 dmen. I don't really think we need a bottom guy. If we get those guys, it pushes our guys into their proper spots.
Of that list Seelers would be nice but he is another left shot. So Lyubuskin.

Save us Nico Daws
Although the value is fine, the Leafs have quite a few goalies already. So I don't see this happening unless we get 1 more injury.
We have Sammy + Jones in the NHL. Hildeby + Petrozelli in the AHL. And we have Peksa in the ECHL right now. And Woll on LTIR. No need to clog up the AHL with another goalie.
Now if we get another goalie injury, I would easily make this trade. I always liked Kallgren and his demeanor. Just wished his numbers were better.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jaok3</b></div><div>You can't give all the cap increase to Willie, that just keeps the leafs in the same issue they are in right now. Willie is a 10M guy, there is no doubt he is a real good player. Negatives- He takes off shifts, floats, doesn't PK, d-zone laziness, won't go in the dirty areas. Positives- Great skater, lethal shot, can control the play, opportunist is his greatest strength.</div></div>
I agree with you. I wouldn't go higher than 10.5m on Willy. I was just saying that I would not be surprised if a team out there would pay 12-13m a year for him. Free agency can get super nuts sometimes, especially in an up cap year. Leafs should definitely not touch that.

Cap is going up by 4.2m this offeseason. You have to keep that in mind as well.
Remember when the Leafs signed Tavares 11 x 7, San Jose had offered him 13 x 7. He chose Toronto anyways.
This is a HUGE cap increase this summer. The contracts that are going to get signed are going to be WILD. Don't be shocked with the contracts that get handed out this offseason.

I see Minten as a Boone Jenner type. Amazing all round C, who is captain material. On a cup winner you want him as your #3C or #2LW. BUT he can play a lot higher in the line up if you need.
