<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlafCaufZuki</b></div><div>My logic here was that Harris plays like a veteran. He's not flashy, but he almost never does mistakes and he's smart. He's also a great community guy and he's very eloquent. He seems as someone who's a good fit with their core. I signed Martinez in case he doesn't gel well with Morrow.

You can keep both of them if you don't re-sign Turbo and you buyout KK,, but the cap would be extremely tight. This allows you to be more flexible cap-wise and it would give the Canes room to use their draft capital to improve up front at the deadline.

What would be a fair trade for Necas from the Habs then? 1st + Mesar + Harris?? I know Necas isn't worth the moon either but he's a young productive player so he's definitely worth way more than a first.</div></div>

Necas' trade value is somewhere between Reinhart and Fiala (1st and good prospect), with the caveat that neither situation is particularly comparable. Buffalo trading Reinhart was a reset to their rebuild, and Minnesota was gaining 14 million in dead cap. The most likely scenario that Necas gets traded - in my opinion - is if he is packaged with picks for a replacement with term/team control, or a top 4 RHD to fill in after Burns retires. For these reasons the Canadiens aren't great trade partners; they aren't going to trade their young guys, their window is about to open.

I think the Canes front office has a number they are willing to give Guentzel, my guess is it starts with an 8, and probably for 5-6 years. He'll likely walk - see Trocheck, or Hamilton, and then they will have plenty of space to re-sign Necas if they so choose.
