Your biases as a rags and leafs fan are impacting your perception of Vanecek, Mercer, and Samsonov. There is no world in which the Devils trade anything of value for Samsonov right now

Vanecek has marginally better save percentage and goals-against average than Samsonov and I'll put the glaring difference in wins (Vanecek has 11 in his 17 starts and Samsonov has 5 in his 13) down to the fact that Vanecek plays on a better team.
