Mr. Murray is gonna cost a lot more than a team moving 15 spots in the draft with those stats and his fancy NTC.

Canucks aren’t trading their franchise goalie who’s on a great contract to upgrade at winger, especially one that’s a pending UFA

I don’t even think it’s worth it from Toronto’s perspective tbh. Samsanov is fine. Woll is good. Why mess with that?

Well Chicago is a trash org, so there's that.

There are less than a handful of teams that can even afford Murray next year, and of those, only 1 seems like a fit... Chicago: the recycling bin for underperforming Leaves goaltenders, apparently.

Not sure about his NTC, but personally I would probably accept (although I would try to ask and swap the pick moving out to a 3rd this year and next year or 2nd next season in the negotiations).

+ Picks 9, 18, 28 - for argument sake (and wishful thinking) lets call them 3 of the following: Moore/Barlow, Wood/Reinbacher, Stenberg/Leonard/Perreault.
+ competent goalie (Ned and Hellberg are worse) who can relieve Husso.
+ Don't spend another 3rd on a stop-gap.
+ Cap hit doesn't seem like a problem for one season.

- Cap hit is still high if other moves are being planned.
- Injury history / inconsistency / need for third goalie just in case (which every goalie looks different with different teams).
- If out of the playoffs (most likely on the fringe but falling short) he may not bring back a return and walks.

Chicago didn't have a NHL goalie either so there is that. Now they have goalies who need more time in the NHL.
On the Detroit side of things we do need a back up. That is the latest of our seconds. If there is a player we really want that we don't think is there when we pick in the second round then I think we do this. It's not great but it could be worth it. If we can get 35 games out Murray then it would be good to relieve Husso of some of the pressure.
I would personally rather acquire another, later second round pick, and send that pick instead.

Mrazek is a worse goalie, with just as man injury issues and the big thing is he had an extra year of term. If anything Murray would be cheaper to unload, especially with the 'multiple cup champ locker room' super powers guys like that supposedly have. He wont cost more to move, especially with his buy out being super cheap

Yeah this also only really makes sense for TO if Nylander/Samsonov want too much money and they can’t sign them

Canucks decline. Not moving our franchise goaltender, especially for a winger when we already have too many wingers.

Wings pass, we aren't as stupid as the hawks and we need a reliable backup not some injury prone guy. No 2nd going back
