Seattle is going to be hard pressed to keep Vince Dunn. Can’t see the money working unless we take significant money back but I like that idea as well. Could be a good mentor for that team.

Detroit trade makes the most sense, from a value/NMC/realism perspective. I'd struggle to see other teams wanting his contract, or him wanting to go to many other teams.

Not going to lie, I'm really against trading picks this year. I would be all for acquiring Trouba though. I honestly don't see it happening this year but let's say it does. We all know the Rangers cap situation, similar McDonough trade, there would likely be very minimal to not much going back. I would say take out the 2023 second and I would be all for it. If we could acquire another future second I would be more inclined to send that. He is actually the exact type of defenceman I like and would love to have him partner with Edvinsson.

Florida and Minnesota Don't have the $8,000,000 cap space to fit Trouba in.

In 2024 it becomes a 15 team no trade list, And in 2025 it's a 12 team no trade list.

Teams would have to be willing to take him on, and the Rags would have to be willing to pay to move him. Trouba himself would have to waive his NMC for any of this to have a chance at happening.

Trouba at $8 million will find very few suitors. Beside Rangers just made him their captain. He is clearly there for the long-haul.

I think Trouba would be a great fit in Detroit, however I don't see it happening. Multiple obstacles such as the NMC, the fact that he is their captain and the cap hit make the trade unlikely. If it were to happen I would imagine the return to be similar to what you proposed, maybe take out the 2nd. Detroit has a ton of cap space over the next few years and really don't have any big contracts coming up beside Seider and Raymond. He would look great on the 2nd pair with Edvinsson.

No I think it's a high cap hit and good prospects waiting in the wings. With Fox's $9.5M cap hit you really don't need a 2nd pair RHD with an $8M cap hit.

Even if he waived, Minnesota has no cap space

The big reason for that is his fiancé/wife is doing her residency and she needed 4 to 6 years to finish it,

Especially since her family lives in Australia. But as soon as people start talking about hometown players returning to Detroit it doesn't usually happen. For this deal I sure hope that changes things.



They did meet in college at U of M and Trouba's family lives in the Metro Detroit Area. But he did say his fiancé/wife's career is as important as his so there is a chance they go to a city based on where she gets the best job for her. Once she is done with her residency wanting to get started with her career could add to him waiving sooner rather than later. But wanting to win a cup could over ride that.
