Dallas saved themselves, but it cost them a 1st round pick and whatever assets they didn't get last year for Klingberg. Terrible asset management that paid off.

They thought of Klingberg as their own rental, I didn't think it was the worst thing to keep him. Top 4 RHD are one of the hardest positions to draft/acquire in a trade. I don't think Dallas got lucky, they knew Lundkvist was top 4 caliber when they acquired him but his reputation from fans/media took a hit because of how NYR handled him.

They were never a playoff contender last year. Keeping Klingberg was a bad idea, Lundkvist was a great idea, but it was terrible.

Last year really exposed him defensively, because he didn't always have Lindell paired with him anymore to cover his liabilities there. I'm excited for the trio of Heiskanen, Lundkvist, and Harley as our puck movers going forward.
