Description
Interested to hear peoples thoughts. Do you think these teams could trade for Miller? Do you think another team might? Do you think these packages are fair?

CBJ
  1. Miller, J.T. (2 625 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Doubt Columbus fans want Miller but Columbus really is a wild card after Gaudreau. Could see them going after Miller as a centre for Gaudreau and Laine well mentoring the young guys

VAN

  2. Iorio, Vincent
  3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (WSH)
WSH
    JT Miller.

This is more likely to me. This is one of the last few years Washington can go for it and Miller would be a great add. Vancouver gets a big, defensive, shutdown RD prospect in Iorio who is from here along with a first in a stacked draft class and Ellet who can be flipped for a pick.
    3.
    VAN

    2. Niemelä, Topi

    1. Schenn, Luke
    Détails additionnels:
    JT Miller (50%)

Toronto is going to have to win soon. Miller stacks the second line and adds a physicality that the leafs have lacked. Vancouver gets a great RD prospect in Niemela, a hometown kid who can fill in at 3 C in Kerfoot, and a first in a stacked draft class.
    4.
    VAN
    1. Lysell, Fabian
    2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (BOS)

JT Miller (50%) Vancouver can also take a one year cap dump. (Miller has extension)

This one I’m less sure about. Miller would be a great Bruin and likely would extend there. Not sure if Bruins would give up Lysell but this could be the current cores last chance at a cup and then Miller can take up 1 C role in the future for them. Not entirely sure though

Genuinely not Familiar with Colorados prospect system, but assume the 2024 first is switched out with an equal prospect. Vancouver can also take Girard + something but not sure if Colorado would want to do that

I figured he wouldn’t be, but wasn’t entirely sure. If the Bruins were to trade for Miller, what do you think the package would be?

These all seem fairly realistic to me. I think WSH is a really good fit with Backstrom’s injury and VAN could retain on Miller in that deal too to help make it happen. If Backstrom comes back well after surgery then Miller would likely be a rental, or they could extend Miller if Backstrom had to LTIR retire. Either way they’re a team that should go for it while Ovi’s still a monster.

I think if Miller had more than a year, Columbus would do it. But that's steep for a one year rental, and they can't risk resigning him to a long deal that becomes an albatross in a couple of years as the kids mature.

Personally, I would offer Girard, a choice of Kaut (who desperately needs time in the NHL) or Beaucage or some other prospect like them, along with a 1st and another pick.

Girard is going to have to leave to make room for Byram. EJ's contract can only really supply the space to re-sign MacKinnon.

GMCM/Sakic have made it clear they're not moving Girard for a rental or an overpayed guy at the end of their prime. Miller is going to overpayed(for a 2C, of which he would be on the Avs) and is a rental.
I can see if it's before American thanksgiving going with Olausson/Behrens and a 1st but there isn't the same panic there was when they went after and overpayed for Kuemper. Newhook with talent will be a solid 2c with around 50-60 points and grow from there.

He's going to need to be moved at some point unless we want to have no offensive depth. I'd rather he be moved to aid in getting a first line forward to help complement Nuke and Lehky's game. And this is just my take, Sakic probably won't do it, sure, but it's fun to theorize.

Why do you always treat Miller like a grizzled old veteran? He is 29 years old and will be for the whole season. He isn't at the end of his prime

I just don't think these two teams match-up well for a Miller trade unless either Krejci or Bergeron get injured for the season. It seems like Vancouver needs RD or RW and that's two position Boston doesn't have a lot of depth at.

They really don’t need RW. They have Boeser and Garland with Hoglander and Mikheyev both capable of the right side. I imagine a VAN BOS trade would be Miller for futures

I'm throwing in a 4th. Plus Jake Gardiner.

        But that's negative value?!

Is it too little? I feel like it’s around fair.

I think basing it off of the Debrincat trade, this is pretty fair. I think from the perspective of the Caps it makes all the sense in the world to do while Backstrom is out

I don't think any team makes that trade. Now come closer to TDL, a team feels they are closer to the Cup Finals someone might bite, but for some teams the ask is still too high.
And teams want to know what they are getting......the 65 point Miller....throughout his career or the last years 100 point Miller.

I think with proper development Iorio could be the D man for Hughes in 3-5 years. Big, shutdown (from what I’ve read) and is from here. Could be a good fit. Ellet at 50% might even be able to fetch a first if he has a good year in VAN and someone overpays

He’s been PPG for the past 3 years. I think that’s a fair expectation. I don’t think any of these packages are particularly unfair, saying as he’s probably one of the best players on the market in a long time
