Not moving a goalie out without getting an equal or better in return. Canes will need 3 who can server in the playoffs if they are going to make any kind of deep run. I like Toews but not interested in acquiring him at this point. Not good use of available cap even at 50% retained. No interest in AA at all. Just because a player is on an expiring contract doesn't mean he has trade value. Domi's success this year and his history with the Canes might make him a possibility, but I don't think Waddell will go fishing in Chi-town this year.

Oh I remember. "You'll have to ask them why they are comfortable doing this". I don't think they were, actually. Mgmt's hand was forced. They were not going to qualify Ned and drag the negotiations out, and so he would have been a UFA within a week. The fact that it only took a 3rd told me other GM's had the same hesitation as the Canes.

The Horvat comment was a just a joke. As for "great fit", I think we all hear that a lot. And I don't necessarily disagree in this case. But that is just a conversation starter. Then the hoops begin. My point is that Timo will not be the only option. Lots of other considerations to be made.

But I don't see the Canes offering Morrow in that trade. There will be other options. If you ask Vancouver fans, Horvat is our saviour. You understand what I'm navigating here...

I just don't think a Horvat trade is going to happen with the Canes. Mainly because they are not going to cough up the necessary package. And I don't understand the persistence with the Schenn trade. I know that a depth D add is a good possibility, but we need a LHD. And one who does a much better job of staying out of the box. We already have enough of that problem. I guess his name keeps popping up because he is cheap, but I don't see him as a fit for the Canes as a rental. Kuzmenko is the only one who interests me, but Canes aren't likely to jump in a bidding war. Interesting to watch all of this down the stretch.

I was big on Kane in the off-season. I know the Canes mgmt was, too. I don't think so anymore. I think they will go after some very 'healthy' additions. We got bit with some key injuries this season. I think we need to add some depth that has a reputation for staying healthy and durable. That was the appeal of Burns. It's pretty much come to that.

It's Hammer time! You are nothing if not persistent. I would actually consider JVR a potential depth scoring addition at the TDL. I still think we go after a big fish with term as well, but since we're about to add $7M to our cap we can do both. Just make it a 2023 and 2024 3rd, and drop the 5th and we're good.
