Scary accurate for how much we bashed it

Tbh I like Bystedt. When I was going through scouts’ rankings, he was always a guy I thought would go higher than where he was typically ranked (in the mid-2nd usually, although I saw him rising towards the end of the year, Pronman in particular mocked him in the 1st round a couple times). A 6’3” centre that can skate is gonna be a first rounder every day of the week, especially if they have some skill. He’s probably a 3C, but he may have 2C upside if everything goes well, and a 3C isn’t bad in the late 1st.

Yeah, no Corey Pronman slander allowed ever again. He got a little overenthusiastic at the end by taking Schaefer at 16, but he was right about him going in the 1st, he was right about Ostlund going top 20, he was right about Slafkovsky at 1, Cooley at 3, Wright at 4, and a RD to NJD (as well as Gauthier at 5 and a RD to CBJ), he was right about Korchinski going top 10, and he was right about Bystedt going in the 1st. His sources were on point.

Schaefer is from Spruce Grove Alberta which is like 20 minutes away from Edmonton and is where Grant Fuhr is from, he confirms is a life long Oilers fan

He’s still a positive value player. And you seem to have the wrong idea about his contract. Yes, the front-loaded deals that have high cap hits and low actual salary are the type of deals they want. But they’re the type of deals they want you to pay them to take. Which is why Lucic would be an appealing candidate (5.25mil cap hit, 1mil salary, only 1 year left, likely comes with a 2nd attached). They’re not gonna give up a pick to acquire a player with that type of contract though.

Honestly don’t hate this draft for Arizona. They can afford to give Maveric Lamoureux 5 years to develop because they don’t plan to be good for a long time. Cooley is a high-end centre that will look really nice next to Guenther. Geekie is huge, and should be okay at 2C or 3C (depending on if he becomes better than Hayton). 2C with Keller on his wing would be a lot of skill. Decent haul, and they picked up even MORE assets for taking on Kassian, who will actively help them tank for Bedard.
