anyone who thinks dubas or keefe should be fired after losing that series can firmly get in a trash can.

the team showed up and wanted to win but came up short

Please let us go through the yearly meltdown where we call for every leafs player, coach and management to be thrown into the sun. It’s mandatory for all leafs fans. Let us be miserable.

While Dangle was disappointed he took this loss the best and for the first time he said something that will shock the masses

" I think they should look running it back, blowing up this version of the leafs would be a mistake" and honestly he might not be wrong.

This was the first time the Leafs battled their hearts off and honestly through this series gave the champs a run for their money. They didn't falter, quit, or give up and that's something the previous teams did quite often. And man the big 4 for the first time ever all showed up and performed especially Marner. I still think there is tinkering to do but man if Dangle liked what he saw then there is something there to build off off as his reaction was better than last year that's for sure

Who knows maybe it's as simple as hiring Trotz to get this group going. We will just have to wait and see what happens

But man when you got Friedman, and the guys on hockey night in Canada going there in no need for big changes then Toronto really left a good impression despite the loss

Anyone wanna help me with Nylander trade ideas

As hes probs the guy who will be out

Cause Marner had himself a series and is a PK workhorse

I’d like Oshie plus whoever. Nylanders got 2 years left then he’s a UFA, Backstrom was like his babysitter or mentor or something when he was a kid. We get a guy who’s won a cup, had a great playoffs this year, a little more responsible, older guy with Tavares.

Showing up and wanting to win is the bare minimum. Winning is another thing. There should be a major shakeup.

I disagree on the shakeup. Leafs showed they can contend with top teams and played a good series. I’d argue they need to find a way to maximize cap space and shore up their depth, not a big shakeup

I agree with this. Completely unacceptable that this team has bowed out 6 straight times in round one. Obviously something is wrong.

It took USA OT to beat Austria lol, like who does Austria even have, pretty sure Rossi isn't there.

Alex Texier has a goal and an assist and helped France beat Kazakhstan 2-1, he seems like he's in good shape after his leave of absence ( i know it's Kazakhstan but France's roster isn't great too )

He should be one but management might panic and move him since he's the easiest one to move out, out of the big names

I believe he is potentially one to go yes

As Marner is the Leafs top penalty killer and moving him would mean splitting up one of the best lines in the NHL.

I think you trade Willy and bring in 2 solid cheap wings

I feel like they have the make one big change, and Nylander is the easiest one to make.

Interesting Tidbits from The Athletic's piece on Patrice Bergeron

"Bergeron was heavily influenced by Mark Recchi’s out-on-top retirement in 2011. Bergeron could leave the game without any part of his legacy being blemished. That may be important to him."

"If Bergeron walks, Brad Marchand would take over the captaincy. Marchand is ready for the title, regardless of his discipline history. But Bergeron’s exit would still create a massive vacuum in leadership, performance and presence."

I feel making a big change especially with this current version of the team could end up hurting more than helping them. Now last year I would have agreed a big change was needed but the fact they bounced back and ended up 2nd in the Atlantic and yes I know they lost to Tampa in 7 but that was a hard fought series which showed Toronto has enormous potential. Should have won game 6 but things dont always go your way as there are some factors out of your control.

This team is on the verge of something and moving one of the big pieces now especially with the growth they showed could undue it all like a Jenga tower where moving Marner or Nylander could make it all come crashing down and were back to not even square one but square zero. I feel tinkering or finding more pieces for the bottom 6 should be the goal. Find another Bunting or Spezza is my idea to start things off. Only move someone if you know for sure the deal will make this team better or in other words a deal to good to pass up.

CBJ at the World Championships - Day 3!
(I was unable to watch any of the games this morning so I really have no comments on how we played)

Canada - Kent Johnson - 1,0,1 (2,0,2)
3rd line LW with Barzal and Batherson - probably shouldn’t get used to playing with such a high skilled center, it’s unlikely he plays with one in Columbus for a while.

Canada - Cole Sillinger - 0,0,0 (1,0,1)
2nd line LW with Lowry and Anderson - Anderson had one heck of a day with 3 points, but nothing from Sillinger today.

France - Alexander Texier - 1,1,2 (1,1,2)
Top line LW with two nobody’s, France isn’t good but Kazakhstan is just bad, glad to see Texier back on with and back to producing.

USA - Andrew Peeke - 0,0,0 (0,1,1)
2nd pair RD with Schmidt, wasn’t in the scoresheet so idk what else to say but it took overtime to be Austria, omfg you goofs.

USA - Nick Blankenburg - 0,0,0 (0,0,0)
3rd pair RD with Hughes. At least he was paired with the guy who scored overtime game winner! Otherwise I still got nothing.

Switzerland - Dean Kukan - 0,0,0 (0,0,0)
1st pair RD with Siegenthaler. I’m guessing he had a good game keeping Ehlers and Blichfeld off the scoreboard even though he didn’t put up any points.

Switzerland - Calvin Thurkauf - 0,0,0 (2,0,2)
Didn’t sound like he was as noticeable in this game as he was in the last game, but he’s also playing 4th line RW with Kurachev (who did score) and Scherwey.

Sweden - Emil Bemstrom - 1,1,2 (1,1,2)
1st line RW with Wallmark and Nordstrom, both of his points came on the power play but the little I saw he looked more noticeable, if there’s anyone I want to have a good tournament it’s Bemstrom.

Key -
Country - Player - goals, assists, points (tournament totals)
