If you wanted the cap relief, you'd do it in the offseason. Get something more worthwhile back like a pick and go shopping in free agency for a downgrade at the position.

This is... ooffa... that's not in the same stratosphere for the Anaheim and Nashville trades. The Leafs decline cause there is cap relief but not enough to make a huge difference when you pro rate the cap hits.
