Tavares fits right in the middle of that list of centres (if they were ordered from best to worst) so take that Fir what it is. Players who play with him always seem to have career seasons.

IMO this definition is too much all over the place to come to a definitive answer for most on and off the list including Tavares. I mean Svechnikov isn't on the list but Marner is, Laine and Conner aren't but Stone, Kucherov, Huberdeau and Barkov are. Karlsson, Theodore and Doughty aren't but Parynko and Jones are, and don't you think it's a little early to call Makar and Hughes elite? I think you also made a mistake in the RW you have Bajkov from FLA not Barkov lol.

I'd say he's about the 25th best player in the nhl right now. I mean, it's hard to say exactly. All I know is he's elite.

The reason I left Karlsson and Doughty off the list was because there's a lot of people that think they are not good anymore, even though I don't agree. I didn't want it to turn into a debate about which ones were better. Theodore, truthfully, I don't know much about and didn't want to add someone who might not have been deserving.

Makar and Hughes aren't necessarily elite yet, it's more of a list of players compared to Tavares.

I think the definition of elite is like let's say 25 players, there are a lot of really talented players in the league and this didn't include goalies and obviously prospects with high potential.

Fair enough, I get the reasoning now. IMO Tavares is elite still but would be right on the cusp of dropping out like within 2 or 3 years he will be 9n the outside looking in much like Toews.

Tavares had an oblique injury to start the season, came back, and broke his finger. Played with nagging health concerns all year, and was basically a P/PG player.

His most recent healthy year (2018-19), he scored 88 points and 47 goals. Yes, he is still elite.
