One one hand, I hate seeing Toronto sign good value contracts, but on the other hand, these contracts set the value for Colin White pretty well. Hopefully The Sens get him locked up for longer than 3-4 years though.

Kapanen did TML a solid....He better get big bucks in a few years time.

A lot of people were claiming his cap-hit would be 4 million on a 1-2 year contract and close to 5 million for anything longer.

I was annoyed with Dubas after the Matthews signing ... but these deals (Johnsson + Kapanen) are a good recovery.

He should also get some credit for re-signing so many guys with cap-hits under 800K:

Looks like KK and AJ game TOR good hometown discount. And Now TOR can trade one of them for a good Dman. That would be awesome, especially if this is Kapanen and especially if it to OTT, he still will be an RFA in 3 years, LOL.

I guess I just don't really understand offer sheets. Why not offer $4M to either/both of these guys? I'm starting to think offer sheets are hypothetical and GM's don't use them b/c they don't want any other team to use it against them. I'd offer Kap $4M X 4 years in a heartbeat. Maybe even 4.5M if necessary.

BTW...This is a monster W for Dubas and the Leafs.
