<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>As someone who was offered a scholarship to one of those "world class colleges", I am very glad I passed. College outside of STEM is a gigantic waste of money. It is only anecdotal but my time visiting Florida was 1000% better than any of the cities I've been to in California. From what I've seen, that place is awful.
Now, for NHL guys, they won't see any of that. They make 10 - 100x of my salary so they probably won't see beyond country clubs and rich areas. But still, taxes are brutal.</div></div>
i'll agree college has kind of devolved. unless you're a lawyer, doctor, accountant, scientist etc, it isn't really needed. Florida is an absolute pit though. it's fun for two weeks until you realize its devoid of intelligence. the only folks down there with half a vocabulary are new englanders that got sick of the snow.

If NY doesn't want to pay that, I totally get it. But, that would be the cost.
Guentzel is a top 5 winger in the NHL. That isn't cheap.</div></div>
It’s fairly easy to say that dubas and Drury won’t even have a conversation regarding any players

Remember when Treliving traded Tkachuk for Huberdeau and proceeded to give Huberdeau the worst contract in the NHL?
Remember when Treliving gave away Lafferty (20 points, 105 hits in 54 GP) for a 5th round pick so that his free agent signing in Reaves (2 points in 27 games) could make the team?
Remember when Treliving traded a 1st to dump Monahan who Montreal then acquired a 1st for?
Remember when Treliving could’ve signed Nylander for 9-10M in the offseason, but then waited and had to give him 11.5M?
Remember when Treliving gave James Neal 5x5.75M?
Remember how all of Treliving’s major signings this season have massively underperformed

Rantanen for Guentzel would be a more even trade. Guentzel has a year less and is 2 years older but is 3MM less and will command less in his next deal.</div></div>
This trade was a joke, but getting serious for a sec. Guentzel won't get you Rantanen. It might get you Lehkonen, though.

Penguins fans let me know
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>Player A:
25yo, former 1st round pick with:
37 goals and 98 points in 181 games
That goal (0.82) and points (2.17) per 60 would rank 171st and 138th if compared to this season
Player B:
24yo former 3rd round pick with:
33 goals and 66 points in 143 games
That goal (0.92) and point (1.85) per 60 would rank 141st and 189th if compared to this season
Player C:
28yo former undrafted FA with:
81 goals and 162 points in 419 games
That goal (0.77) and point (1.55) per 60 would rank 188th and 228th if compared to this season
All 3 players make around 1MM
Player C (Dupuis) was better in hindsight but at the time he was the worst player in the deal (A is Armstrong, B is Christensen)</div></div>
Correct. I remember that trade well. Dupuis was never considered a player with more potential than depth at best. That is also an example of why getting throw in value in trades is so important. Dumoulin was another example of a player that overachieved their expected value at acquisition.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>"AT LEAST" middle line. All futures are based on potential and Perreault is a high floor and high ceiling potential. Thinking you're getting three+ prime future assets is unprecedented for a rental. What comparable rental trade are you using as a standard? Friedman explicitly said Dubas is expecting a Giroux level return which was a late 1st, good- not great- prospect, and offsetting cap hit roster player. Your expectations for trading a rental are warped. Now if it were a sign and trade that would be a different matter, but that isn't being discussed at this time.</div></div>
Dude, crappy rentals go for 1st round picks all the time lmfao. Lindholm was just traded for a HAUL (after the mid season he was having) and he might not even extend with the Nucks.
Do you seriously expect Dubas to sell one of his best assets, a top line ppg winger WITH retention, for 1 singular B tier prospect in a 1 for 1? Be so for real right now lmao

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>That would be a ridiculous package for Guentzel. Perreault is a very good prospect with a high chance of being at least a middle line player at the NHL level based on his freshman year in the NCAA. He could probably transition to the NHL after his NCAA season next year. I really don't think it is reasonable to expect a better trade than this.</div></div>
A "middle line player" prospect doesn't get a ppg top line winger with half retention. It's not even close. It's a 1st+

That might not be your opinion but if the Leafs did want out of his deal, a first would need to be attached due to his 11MM salary.
I've never seen a Pens fan trying to lose Crosby. So your point makes no sense.</div></div>
For sure. I get that much, and I even agree, but I doubt the actual TOR brass wants to move him. TOR's fan base is notoriously insane and want to get rid of players every time the make the smallest mistake. But no GM in their right mind is going to pay that much to move a player for one year. Especially not when TOR doesn't really have any reason to do so.
