CHI accepts, but TOR doesn't. So it doesn't really matter what CHI says.

Maybe this was not your intention, but this seems like you are basically saying Crosby and Tavares are equal in value when it is not even close. Crosby is the better player at both ends of the ice, is a proven play off producer, and his cap hit is much less.

If PIT wants to win they shouldn't take Joey, lol. He's done. He should be bought out or play for a tanking team.

I keep seeing Leafs fans talking about how "soft" Tavares is and how much they want him tossed into the Sun. That might not be your opinion but if the Leafs did want out of his deal, a first would need to be attached due to his 11MM salary.

I've never seen a Pens fan trying to lose Crosby. So your point makes no sense.

For sure. I get that much, and I even agree, but I doubt the actual TOR brass wants to move him. TOR's fan base is notoriously insane and want to get rid of players every time the make the smallest mistake. But no GM in their right mind is going to pay that much to move a player for one year. Especially not when TOR doesn't really have any reason to do so.

Totally fair and I completely agree. I wouldn't move Tavares, he is legitimately great, but if Tor fans want him gone, I would gladly take him.

The question is what it will cost to dump him. There aren't many teams that are willing to take on a $4M cap hit of a guy that is already on his "fresh start/change of scenery." Even a non-competitive team isn't going to just do the Avs a favor by taking that contract; they'll want something good coming back, for sure. If they ask for a 2nd or 3rd, I would offer them a prospect like Olausson or Foudy while they still have value if they'd take it. If I were the Avs and I had no other choices, I might offer to retain $1M since that's cheaper than a buyout but I'd hate to give up more than a 4th in that case. They gambled on Joey and it didn't work; now they have to take their medicine.

It depends on how much clout the Avs franchise has versus others. Boston was magically able to get Taylor Hall to waive an NMC for CHI. New hottie SEA inexplicably got Bjorkstrand for peanuts; same for VGK vs FLA. MTL strongarmed CGY into a 1st for Monahan. If tye Avs are forced to work with CHI, I think they have to pay a premium, but if its SJ or ANA it could be cheaper. The NHL is a club & I've come to accept theres a pecking order & special agendas. If Joey was on BOS, CHI, or NYR he'd be gone already. Realistically, based on past actions, I am preparing for him to be on the Avs payroll until summer when he's part of a Byram mega deal.

That's true except for one thing: all of those players had positive value; Joey arguably does not.

He scored when on the PP. Maybe Bednar should put him back after this latest 0-13...

I do love it when people see like 4 agms by two different people inna fan base and use it to assume that all leafs fans want to toss a player away for free or pay to move him

I can't say how many I've seen but it is much more than 4 over the last 3 months. Probably in the range of 2 - 3 dozen. Now, to your point, I can't recall if it was a small handful of vocal Leafs fans.

Even then, there is a vast difference between Crosby and Tavares.
