Description
I would hate seeing him playing here. But this is the optimal package for him and would be a great fit for Guentzel.

That would be a ridiculous package for Guentzel. Perreault is a very good prospect with a high chance of being at least a middle line player at the NHL level based on his freshman year in the NCAA. He could probably transition to the NHL after his NCAA season next year. I really don't think it is reasonable to expect a better trade than this.

Yeah

Good. Ask Drury why he made that utterly brain dead Buchnevich trade. Should have been fired for that one so he's proven to be stupid before.

A "middle line player" prospect doesn't get a ppg top line winger with half retention. It's not even close. It's a 1st+

We could fall back on the impressive postseason success the Rangers have had under him.

"AT LEAST" middle line. All futures are based on potential and Perreault is a high floor and high ceiling potential. Thinking you're getting three+ prime future assets is unprecedented for a rental. What comparable rental trade are you using as a standard? Friedman explicitly said Dubas is expecting a Giroux level return which was a late 1st, good- not great- prospect, and offsetting cap hit roster player. Your expectations for trading a rental are warped. Now if it were a sign and trade that would be a different matter, but that isn't being discussed at this time.

Dude, crappy rentals go for 1st round picks all the time lmfao. Lindholm was just traded for a HAUL (after the mid season he was having) and he might not even extend with the Nucks.

Do you seriously expect Dubas to sell one of his best assets, a top line ppg winger WITH retention, for 1 singular B tier prospect in a 1 for 1? Be so for real right now lmao

Perreault is a great prospect but he's a boom or bust player. He's either a legit top 6 60 points winger or never has a career. That risk means Rangers likely have to add to him for Guentzel and I agree with the guy above, the add is likely a 1st

Rangers fans overrate all of their players. Gabe is the only prospect they have that’s actually worth the hype. I doubt they’d trade him.

But we all know they won’t trade Gabe, so it’s a nonstarter to look for a deal with them.

Either you have a dramatically different prospect standard than everyone else, or you are ignorant on where Perreault stands as a prospect.

Great, thehockeywriters. A bunch of college dropouts getting paid to write hockey articles.

If a (maybe) rental Lindholm just got traded for a haul there's 0 reason to expect Dubas to sell low on Guentzel. This package sucks.

He's a decent prospect, but he is what he is, a prospect. He either pans out or he doesn't. You know what Guentzel IS though? A bonified point per game star winger. It's a 1st+

You’re not taking into account that Guentzel is strictly a rental and giving a possible future piece to a rival

GM's don't value inter-divisional trades like people on CF do. If two teams are going in separate directions, what does it matter?

Him being a rental doesn't change a whole lot considering rentals can still go for big prices. And someone of Guentzel's caliber should be no different.

If you wanna change the price, then probably a 1st+ Othmann. Dubas has no reason to settle when teams would double this price for Guentzel

It's because of his play style and the amount of skill he has. He's a finess player that I don't see suiting a bottom 6 role. So for me he is a boom or bust player
